This reviewer sounds like he/she prefers visuals to roleplaying elements. Oh Em Gee, lookit all da colors! DA2 looks so much better than DAO! Who cares about your roleplaying crap! :P
I didn't think DA2 looked better than DAO, to me.
IF WE EXCLUDE... Isabela. Because, she was... RAWR in DA2.

I think what killed it for me in DA2 is you were limited to the city and the "mines" - and the mines were all a rehash with just different doors blocked/locked. It was the same thing every time.

There was no sense of exploring.

I had the same issue with probably one of my all time favorite CRPGs... Realms of Arkania.

1 and 2 you are exploring cities, forests, mountains, caves....

3, you're in a city and explore some caves around the city, but mostly in the city.
Agreed. Plus, there was no variety to how you encounter an enemy. Go somewhere in the city? Enemies drop on you from the sky.

Go somewhere in the mines? Enemies drop on you from the sky.

Go somewhere in a cave? Enemies drop on you from the sky.

Oh, unless it's a boss - then it's face to face.

Yawn.

DA3 had a much greater variety of settings - cities, palaces, wilderness, caves ... - but there was too much walking, and WAY too much gathering little tiny pieces of a key just so you could progress a quest ... ugh. :(

I much preferred DAO's method of travel. You had a set number of places you could go, and more would open up when you learned about them. :)
