Latest addition to my modest Sierra collection:
Sealed SLATER & CHARLIE GO CAMPING (1993) box.
It´s the version that came with the awesome Sierra compass (was looking for that one for quite a while)
I don´t care about the damage on the back because it´s a) the cool Slater & Charlie dinosaurs b) sealed c) has the compass

"Slater the Petrosaur, protagonist of Sierra's Oil's Well remake, has got himself a buddy in the form of Charlie, another dinosaur of indeterminate species. Together, they visit various locations and undertake various tasks toward the end of enjoying a camping trip in the great outdoors together."

And I finally managed to get a boxed copy of the SQ1 misprint (the one on the left):

Image Image Image

It´s the Apple version.
My main focus is PC and luckily I found a misprinted PC release too :-)
So I´ll sell the Apple version in a few weeks when I got the other one.

It´s still not known how many misprinted boxes were sold back then.
Facts: It´s onyl the first blue box release of SQ1 (the one with the screenshot on the front cover) and it´s all systems (Apple, Atari, PC..)

Thats nice K0sh! Its always a good feeling to get something that one has been waiting patiently for a long time, i.e. Slater&Charlie.

However, beginning to buy "misprinted" titles? Are those sought after items?
When will your collecting end?
"Oh look, heres a box with a scratch & dent about 5cmx10xm in the upper left corner. I don't think I have this version. I'll buy it immediately" :)

Got these today.
I really should make an Excel file over what I have, because now I have 2 of Larry for sail, so didn't need it.

Maybe K0sh wants to buy it from me? Its super-rare, because I think it has a micrometer misprint on it somewhere ;)

Had exactly the same "problem". :-)
I solved this for myself with this app:

http://www.maddysoft.com/iphone/mystuff/

So I have all the time my collection at hand and can check immediately, if it is something I already got. Before placing insanely high Ebay bids :-)
Disclaimer: I am not at all tied to them, just using this product, and it works fine for me.

Kind regards,
C.

Thanks Constantin for the tip :)
Looks like a nice neat app, and a bonus is if your house burns or everything is stolen, you still have access to the list.

8-)
Nice try, dude.

Well... personally I do think misprints are a very interesting thing.
But that opinion hasn´t to be shared by everyone of course :-)
Same with sealed version e.g., which I don´t really care about to be honest.
Have 1000 others example in mind but all what matters at the end is that there is enough space for all our collectors-fetishes out there and they won´t hurt anyone 8-)

Can't say misprints hold any attraction to me, at least to the point of actively seeking them out. For example, If I did not already have the misprinted SQ1, I would not be keeping an eye out for it.

Just want to say how thankful I am of this thread.

I was scanning things for Rudy - and suddenly realized I hadn't scanned a Black Box SQ1EGA.

And was freaking out.

Then went through this thread and realized, I never got the SQ1EGA Black Box - it was just the standard SQ1 EGA I had gotten.

So three cheers for this thread saving my sanity.

So, no DOS interpreter. The reason that I was curious is that my installer for KQ7 is very version dependent because of the binary level patch to upgrade it to version 2. Not only does version 2 include fixes, it also has a DOS interpreter. The installer supports the French and Spanish versions, but not German since I have never encountered a German v2 from which to build a binary patch. It might be possible to extract the language specific resources to make a German patch for the English v2, but that would involve a fair bit of work.

Ok, so in English, you're saying my version is a piece of crap? :)
