Hmm. Are you a piece of equipment in the fort (e.g. a hitching post, an anvil etc.)?

I am a piece of equipment; in a round about way (but not necessarily seen at the fort).

I
wonder if I am?

*thinks* Are you a piece of blacksmithing equipment (e.g. a hammer)?

The previous question was if you
were Sutter's Mill and the answer was no. I was asking if you were something found there.

Oh, then I read the question wrong. Um, so still no in both cases.

Are you something a merchant would use (e.g. a stand? A pair of scales? A pair of glasses? etc.)?

I don't know anything about Sutter's Fort. I never even played GR! before. Yet I got it right? Woo-hoo!
Are you a pair of scales?

I am not.
I will say, before you go down the rabbit hole of Sutter's Fort...
NBH did ask if I was found in Sutter's Fort... and I said I'm not.
I went the NBH way, and thought of a tricky one for Goldrush (which, may be another clue right there, enough to spoil what it is)...

I'm not.
But I will say, I am something (for what I picked), you
don't want to see.
(Heh, I love these games; but dread when they go too long and I am the one who has the key)

"don't want to see"... Hmmm... Are you the gallows when you are caught stealing gold?

I am a specific part of the gallows; but I will just say yes.
(I was the rope/noose)

I was going to say "I am not surprised that no one was able to guess this at break neck speed" or something if no one got it from my previous clue.
