Nice, Rudy!
I recently got these three little babies ...
and ...
(I haven't played Freddy Pharkas since I had the game on diskettes. But I don't have that any more. Oh, well. But I haven't played the other two! And I'm looking forward to playing them! So excited, I'm using way too many exclamation points!! It's like we're in an Archie comic! Better slow down on the exclamation points!)

Rath - were you the one who bought the floppy disk "Dagger of Amon Ra" that was recently on eBay Australia?

Nope, sorry. I don't have an FDD (haven't had one in years), so I couldn't play that game off floppies.Semi-Happy Partygoer wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 8:30 am Rath - were you the one who bought the floppy disk "Dagger of Amon Ra" that was recently on eBay Australia?

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
I just bought Space Quest 1 VGA on ebay yesterday. I'm excited because I own all the other Space Quest 1 boxes (there are four, counting the remake). After that the only Space Quest boxes I have left to acquire are Space Quest 5 and 6! And perhaps for nostalgia's sake, and if I can find it, I'll track down that Space Quest Collectors Series horizontal box with a front flap that I USED to have but my parents made me throw it out when we moved across the country. I still have the front flap that I cut off (and got Josh Mandel to sign while I was at PAX last Aug/Sept). But I miss the full box. I'll post a photo when SQ1VGA comes in.
Then I'll probably get the rest of the King's Quest boxes I'm missing (I have 2, 3, 4, and 8...and also a cut off front flap of the CS as well).

I may or may not have intentionally notated it as such to provoke a response.

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
I an missing the two different SQ black boxes, but I believe that I have all of the others outside of the non-PC platform and non-English localization releases. I guess that as a completist I should also try to get the EU variant of the SQ Collector's Edition. As to KQ what I am missing is the *first* PCjr release, a couple of the colors of the KQ6 floppy boxes, the non upgrade KQ6 CD with box. Again, the completist would also want the 2nd release of the KQ Collector's Edition and the EU KQ Collector's Ed.
The non-English localization releases could be interesting to have since they often have later interpreters for the extended language support.

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
Wait wait wait...there are TWO black boxes? Does one just not have the front flap or...?
In that case I guess there's FIVE SQ1 boxes lol. Oh well. I'm lucky to have the black box that I have (with the flap).

I (as you know from my various posts) have been scanning my Sierra games (may do my other non Sierra games I hold dear too) - and got to...
And yes, I still hate it. I got as far as fighting a few monsters, and chasing one of them down the hill side. Then, realized I could jump off this high rock and die. So I did.

Don't forget the black box with the grid.MusicallyInspired wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 6:31 pm Wait wait wait...there are TWO black boxes? Does one just not have the front flap or...?

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
Right. I have the one with the grid. I like the grid. Very slick. Still, not different enough for me to go hunting for it. It's still the black box. But then...I AM pretty pedantic about collections and this is Space Quest, my favourite game series.....it probably won't show up anywhere anyway and I won't have the money for it. Maybe as another unicorn buy after I add SQ5 and SQ6 to my collection at long last.
And lol Tawmis. My dad actually really liked MOE. He also loves the Tomb Raider and 3D Indiana Jones games too so it wasn't much of a surprise. He went through the entire game and beat it. I myself have only ever gotten to the second world/level area and no farther yet. I remember loving the music and the openness (as well as the Graham and Valanice dialogue portraits from KQ6 thrown in as paintings in the castle halls). But I never sat down and went through it. Someday I want to start from the beginning and just go through all the King's Quests sequentially for once. Go right through to MOE.

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
I give it heck - because it's always felt dated (even back then, which is odd when we were play AGI/SCI games ) - but, for folks that enjoy it - I love that people do.MusicallyInspired wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 10:23 pm And lol Tawmis. Ironically, I just bought the four LEGACY OF KAIN games on GoG (97 cents each) - and tried to play through them. 97 cents, is pretty much "free" - and I remember enjoying the game (I can't remember which one it was I played on the Playstation) - but it pretty much has the same graphics as MoE... and I couldn't stand playing any of them. Went through all four Legacy of Kane and just bleched. I can't get past BAD 3D graphics - it visually takes me out of the game.
