I can think of two Adventure Games that Activision both published and developed: Zork: Grand Inquisitor and Spycraft: The Great Game. Overall, Activision publishes a lot more games than it develops.

The way I picture things, when they finally got around to it, they just brushed aside eight years worth of work because they didn't want to bother faxing a couple pieces of paper.
"Faxing a couple of pieces of paper"? What papers? When we submitted QFG2VGA for review, we mailed a CD to them and the go-ahead was later given during a phone call between our contact at VU and a member of our team. (which we had to initiate, of course) What kind of procedure did they want to follow?

Beats me. I'm not on the admin side of things (and I'm sworn to confidentiality on anything else I do know.) For the most-part, I was in full-on "Rage Mode" when I wrote that, so my brain wasn't thinking too clearly. Oh, well. We'll see if the fan backlash does anything to grab their attention.

I certainly hope so.

Looks like the fan backlash did indeed grab their attention.

I was wondering when that would go public. My thanks to all who helped.

Of course, it would be even nicer if they allowed all fan-games to continue...

Indeed. SQ7, for instance, is another title many were looking forward to. I guess the KQ community is more active than the SQ community these days. A shame.

It does seem so. 5-6 years ago this was quite the opposite. Perhaps the AGDI and IA games have had something to do with this. They kept the KQ games visible as the SQ games have faded from memory. Let's see what SQ2VGA does.

Heh. Anyone else notice how "ceased" and "desisted" can be amalgamated into: "deceased"?

I'm really, really glad to read this news. Speechless, even.

I'm so happy that TSL is safe again! :D

I'm just grateful for the second chance. Over the last five years, TSL has become half my portfolio and I'm glad to see it won't be wasted.

Wow. That surprising, but good news. I'm glad to hear that the game will be able to be finished and especially that everyone who put so much work in it won't have to be thwarted so close to being finished.

Sooo, how certain are we that TSL is, indeed and in fact, going to be un-ceased & desisted? Call me cynical, but this:
"Given the overwhelming community support for the Silver Lining project, Activision is in discussions with Phoenix Online Studios about allowing them to continue to finish the game and then release it to their fans."
doesn't exactly sound like a slam-dunk to me, though it's certainly promising. (Sorry, not intending to be a wet blanket...just don't want to get my hopes up...)

I never thought it was for sure. It's just a glimmer of hope for the TSL team.

I can't believe no one else has posted this...

Long story short, Phoenix Online and Activision have come to an agreement, and the game WILL be released. The first chapter is due to be released on July 10.

YAY!
