I finally got it to give me this error. It was more likely to give it to me using the fight save than the cave. It only seems to happen when taking damage while the dragon is roaring. The source of the error is something goes beyond what I am able to deal with, but it seems to be easy to avoid. Lowering the difficulty and fighting from a distance makes it relatively easy to avoid damage from the dragon. Reinforce your protection spell and avoid infighting. Cast the frostbite spell from a distance.

Ok i finally defeated the dragon from a distance.But it would still be nice to be able to fix this bug especially when i might want to play as a fighter or thief again without any magic.

I have never played QfG5 as a thief, but can you throw poison daggers? A paladin can fight from a distance. A pure fighter may have to fight by repeatedly striking and then getting out of the way. Allow your companions to do their share of fighting.

Heh - that may be difficult without the actual Sierra Employees and Source Code.
