My two nominations:
KQ4 - the bottle in the whale where it says it'll take you to KQ3. I seriously thought as a kid that we'd have access to that game!
GK3 - typing in "GK4" in Sidney and it taking you to ghosts. That was before I knew about who currently owned the rights to Sierra.

GK3: Disco bartender! Oh yes, there's the talking chicken, Grace's backflip, Jean's backflip, Gabe's flying, the Roger Wilco nod and the shout-out to Clue, Kurt Cobain in the cemetery and Jane Jensen in the book shop. And the clown shoes.
GK1: Hold space bar - car crash
LSL7: the girls... Also the Torin's Passage appearances at the start credits, "next on Inside Affair..." and the Slim & Slime announcement. And the Freddy Pharkas music at the jacuzzi. And Psychedelic Mode.
LSL6: There's something you can activate when you're in your room stand behind the plants and click on yourself with the Talk icon, you can hear your neighbors having more fun than you. Allegedly you can enter the women's shower if you're real quick after tripping over Burgundy's guitar cord.
Phantas 2: the little games on Trevor's log-in
Phantas: has the evil baby glare and the toilet egg and the LSL6 calendar girls in the realtor's office.
KQ7: SQ glasses in the faux shop, and I wonder what "must've been a princess" refers to.
KQ4: Pirate!
Torin's Passage: music of Phantasmagoria / Freddy Pharkas, and of course: using the bagpipes on Lycentia.
Freddy Pharkas: Cedric the Owl being eaten by buzzards, and the Lemmings cutscene and addition of Larry's grandfather
And of course:

Two mentions of KQ4 and no one cited the "beam me" Easter Egg in KQ4?

My nominations (they'll be few because easter eggs are not something I usually care very much about):
1. GK3: The bartender in Rennes-les-Bains and the "gk4" entry in SIDney.
2. QfG2: The Rosella doll in the shop.
I'll add more if I can think of them.

Sorry Datadog, GK3 is very hard to record, ask Rudy. But here's an animation I made of it:
Also I found another easter egg: upon browsing the GK3 files I'd seen the image of a highly amateuristic cow and found matching sound bytes, and guess what? I just found it in Couiza! Maybe this is only on the US version I have installed now.

I think GK3 records with no problem with FRAPS?
I can check when I get home sometime this weekend...

You could also try running the game in a window to record it.

Yeah, there's plenty of GK3 LP's all over YouTube, so recording is entirely feasible.
But thanks for the upload! I've never seen the GK3 easter eggs before!

All right - gonna post up the tournament shortly. I'm only picking 16 of these for the roster's sake, so I probably won't go with the assorted cameos and references. This will be all about the more ridiculous surprises the developers left us.

I used Fraps. GK3 really wasn't that hard to record. In my opinion, the most annoying things to record are the games from the mid to late nineties which only run on Win95-98.

I'm thinking of getting another tournament going. Our last one ended with "Conquests of Camelot" taking home the big shiny trophy for "Best Easter Egg", so the current list of SHP winners looks something like this:
Best Hero: Gabriel Knight
Best Sidekick: Grace Nakimura
Best Villain: The Black Wolf
Best Easter Egg: Ham and Jam and Spam a Lot
So are there any suggestions for the next tournament? Personally, I'd like to see something more character-based such as "Best Henchman" or "Best Larry Girl", although we could also nominate our favorite puzzles, background art, or music scores. Or in the spirit of this competition, "Best Gabriel Knight Anything".
Write down a short list of your tournament suggestions and we'll see which ideas catch on.

Best backgrounds would be nice, but you would need to break it into three or four categories, say EGA, VGA and SVGA, etc. Perhaps KQ1SCI, KQ4, TCB and Hero's Quest for VGA; KQ5, KQ6, SQ4, SQ6 and QfG4 for VGA; Shivers, PQ4, Lighthouse and RAMA for SVGA. GK1 is a transitional game where the interface is SVGA, but the backgrounds are just VGA scaled up to VESA/SVGA. We could also have a category for more cartoony styles, such as KQ7, LSL7, SQ6 and Torin's Passage.

I love these and they generate interesting convo and fun because people are discussing not just their favorite games; but various aspects of it. It gets deeper.
