Re: The Sierra Background Art Tournament: Round 4
I'll be tallying these up in a couple days! Get your votes in!
Mine:
Title Match: Best in AGI
Gold Rush! - A huge world, historical locations, a variety of environments, and a lot of backgrounds within backgrounds. This is my jam.
Title Match: Best in SCI 16-Color
The Colonel's Bequest - I love KQ4, but I'm going to pass my vote onto the one with real atmosphere in its designs.
Best in VGA
1. Space Quest 4 - KQ5 knocked it out of the park, but I think SQ4 really upped the ante on VGA as a cinematic tool.
2. King's Quest 6 - Every location is a work of art. The backgrounds on the Isle of Wonder alone have enough content to spin-off four different fan-games, but I'll always love the creepy atmosphere in the Land of the Dead and the Minotaur's labyrinth.
Title Match: Best in Photorealistic SVGA
Gabriel Knight 2 - Because the last time I played this, I watched this scene and immediately set out to find weiss wurst (and was lucky enough to discover the German Christmas Market in my travels. I had weiss wurst, apple cider and a pretzel! That was a great day!) Otherwise, I really like the sets they built for this game.
