They used the "basket" defense. Look at Argentina or Costa Rica: they crowded the goal en masse in their matches against The Netherlands and Germany. Brazil fortunately doesn't do that. They were at a loss with their key defender Silva suspended against Germany. All the same, 7-1 is a bit flattered: four of those goals were scored within the same ten minutes of Brazilian blackout. Still they have a very forward way of playing that Argentina doesn't adopt against opponents with strong attackers: after 90 minutes of final I thought "oh dear, one of those games again, I'll go take a shower." And I took a shower and came back to 1-0.
Then it was not a very smart move of key defender Silva to tackle Robben 2 minutes into the game in the penalty area, on Saturday's match. Would've been red, was yellow. Brazil was lucky, you might say - had he gotten red, they might've lost by higher figures.
