Well, that's because it's a bad story.

I just couldn't get into it. It felt like the typical movie sequel. Take everything that was great about the previous one and crank it to 11!

Haunted house? No! How about Hell itself?
Ghosts? No! How about demons?
Suggested rape scene? No! How about actual nudity!

And then he's like... insane... but not... but maybe... but is... but isn't really... but is...

And I get it... it's just what would go through a crazy person's head... but it makes for a difficult story to follow for us less complex people. :)

Having just completed Freddy Pharkas, I am now ready to start my next adventure. So pick a title from below of games that I have not played yet. Special thanks to GOG for letting me add Heart of China to the list. Polls will close Sunday around noon.

The Adventures of Willy Beamish
The Black Cauldron
The Colonel's Bequest / Dagger of Amon Ra
Conquests of Camelot
Conquests of the Longbow
Heart of China
Phantasmagoria
Phantasmagoria 2

Well Phantasmagoria is on here twice...

So... I'd still go with Colonel's Bequest, first, on the list you have there.

Oops. Fixed. It should be Phantasmagoria 2.

I just thought you were suggesting Phantasmagoria really hard.
(And I wouldn't blame you, because it is a really good game!)

But still gotta go with Colonel's Bequest, if I were to vote!

I vote Phantasmagoria (play the first then the second). Halloween may be over but there's always room for some B-movie horror. :)

The first Phantasmagoria is a decent overall game. Puzzles aren't too hard and the spooky mansion is a pretty good setting.

Phantasmagoria 2 is the kind of weird, wacky cult horror movie you might catch on an obscure cable TV channel at 2:00 in the morning. The story wrapped in a mediocre game but as mentioned earlier Phantasmagoria 2 is worth experiencing for how silly it becomes.

I'd go for The Adventures of Willy Beamish (because it's silly), Conquests of Camelot (because it's hard) or Conquests of the Longbow (because of the Robin Hood connection - duur!) ;)

I haven't played The Colonel's Bequest, but it has a very good reputation. I haven't played the Phantasmagoria games either, because I simply don't like horror as a genre, but the first one has a good reputation - and the second one, from what I've heard, is very silly. :P

Just wondering... are they worth playing, even though I don't like horror?

The first Phantasmagoria, I wouldn't even say is a "horror" game... Unless you think Gabriel Knight 1, 2 or 3 are also of the horror genre?
The first Phantasmagoria starts with a couple moving into a house, and the main character (the wife) going through the house and finding out things. Something happens to the husband, that does cause one ... suggested, very, dark, scene... but really, it's all about exploring a haunted house, and uncovering its secrets... and dealing with your significant other who eventually goes "dark side"...

The second Phantasmagoria game, is your typical "movie sequel." It tries to take everything that was great about the first game, and kick it up ten notches, and ruins the subtly that made the first game so good; story wise, it has absolutely nothing to do with the first one, also.

So I have 2 for Colonel's Bequest, 1 for Phantasmagoria and 1 for Willy Beamish, so Colonel's Bequest it is! I will probably end up doing Dagger of Amon Ra immediately afterwards.

Excellent choices. Post about them in the Laura Bow section.

It's that time again. Let me know which game I should play next:

The Adventures of Willy Beamish
The Black Cauldron
Conquests of Camelot
Conquests of the Longbow
Heart of China
Lighthouse
Phantasmagoria
Phantasmagoria 2

Added Lighthouse to the list when I got it from GOG recently. I don't know much about this game, other than I guess it was Sierra's answer to Myst.

Polls close Sunday.
