Either. I never skip a game in the series.

Re: What games have you replayed the most?
Sounds like the MMO equivalent of role-playing through the Tomb of Horrors.Tawmis wrote:I guess I can technically add EverQuest to my list. Back in the day, I was pretty into EverQuest - my wife, my close friends, all played and we were all in the same guild.
These days, my former boss (who I got along with very well), his wife, and their two friends (Anita and Kara) all play on Weds - so we all try to log on when we can on Weds, group up, for a few hours of laughs, disasters, and death, for a night.
EverQuest was a brutal MMO (and we play on a 1999 version of the server, so it's still brutal). The official version of EverQuest (which is also now free to play) has lightened up on the brutality of the game to it's players. (Dying meant losing a sizable chunk of XP, and you could lose your level; you'd "return" to where ever you were bound - and only true casters can bind themselves anywhere - everyone else had to bind in a city; and when you "returned" you did so without your body, so you were naked). So imagine being a warrior, you are "bound" to a city like 60 zones away, and there's oceans and high level monsters between you and your body - and you're completely naked.
Ah. Those were the days!
Did any of the EverQuest NPCs make a comment about your character being naked? *snerk* Perhaps they took a leaf from Bethesda's TES4: Oblivion: "Look at the muscles on you!"
I agree, I'm completely the same. When I first played DA:O, I played through all the origin stories and then went on to beat the game with all origins. Why? Because I'm a completionist, that's why. Luckily I had less to do in those days.Tawmis wrote:Dragon Age is another - well, Dragon Age: Origins. That's the only one I've ever repeated more than once. Dragon Age II... I wasn't too much of a fan of, except for Isabella (for obvious reasons... because she calls to the pirate in me... that's why...) And Dragon Age III is freaking HUGE - and I am a completionist when it comes to RPG games... the first play through I went through EVERY side quest... and there's SO many in Dragon Age III...
I'm also not a fan of DA2. DA3... yeah, well. I eventually got tired of hunting for all the keys/phials/crystals/blankets/whatever!!! and went on my merry way and completed the main quest. I never even beat any of the dragons, or created a magical weapon, or... *sniff* *sniff*
*breaks down* Oh I admit it, I wasn't as completionist as I should've been!!! I'll never be the same.
The original NWN is actually also the weakest in terms of plot and characters. I recommend either SOU or HOTU instead. (If you play HOTU, take Deekin with you! He's so much fun to taunt!)Tawmis wrote:And along the lines of Bioware, Neverwinter Nights (for which I used to make my Neverending Nights series) - but ironically, have NEVER beat the game. I've replayed it a thousand times, but never seem to get around to finishing it - and never import/copy my save games to new machines... so I think I have NWN save games, for different characters, in different spots, on like eight computers...
I have tons of modules that either make NWN easier (e.g. set level, give equipment) or that have more stories. For mods, I recommend Adam Miller's "Shadowlords", "Dreamcatcher" and "Demon" (in the last of which you play a demon!), Stephen Gagne's "Penultima" and "Below the R00t", and both Kevin Chan's "Tales of Arterra: The Lost" and "Tales of Arterra: The Awakening". "The Bastard of Kosigan" series is also interesting. If you're in the mood for playing an assassin, then "Red Sisters' Academy" is very useful. They can be found and downloaded at the Neverwinter Vault.
Or not, y'know. You can play whatever you like...

Heh. No. The game wasn't that smart.Rath Darkblade wrote: RE: EverQuest

The dragons were a ß!+C|-| to fight in most cases... there was two of them that were extremely brutal and took me quite a bit of time (and cuss words) to find a solid way of beating them...Rath Darkblade wrote: RE: Dragon Age

It's one of the downfalls to Pillars of Eternity... there's a quest where you go 16 dungeons deep and find a dragon - at level 12 (16 is the max, but I think 12 was max pre-expansion?) - the Dragon had my guys, which were pretty powerful (no other fights were knocking out more than 2 of my 6 guys)... the dragon took out all six in less than 15 seconds... tried again, lasted 30 seconds... tried another 10 times, never lasted more than a minute (and barely had the dragon's health down). So I figured I'd load up the expansions I purchased, and see if I get any armor or weapons that might help - got my guys to 16 - and ended up on a quest where you fight a powerful woman and her two dragons in the swamp... I can kill ONE of the dragons, but by then, her and the other dragon take my party down - and if I focus just on her the dragons kill me in moments... so taking down one of them is key... but since my guys are maxed... I am not sure I CAN beat that fight (there is a "peaceful" way to do it, but it's a little more of an evil choice for your characters to be making to agree to her terms)... I have yet to go back down to the deep dungeon and fight that first dragon, and see if I do better (that's where I stopped last week, at the dungeon entrance).
The completionist in me will not let me skip the main one to go to the expansions.Rath Darkblade wrote: RE: Neverwinter Nights

Beamdog (former Bioware folks) are working on an "Enhanced version" of the original NWN.

Re: What games have you replayed the most?
Re: Neverwinter Nights...
1. OK, the original vanilla Neverwinter Nights is darn near impossible to finish as is. The enemies you'll face are more powerful than you are, in some cases far more powerful. For instance:
******SPOILER******
Around level 7-8, you'll have to fight a White Dragon. I know these are the weakest of their kind, but at that kind of level, you'll still stand no chance.
******SPOILER******
To make matters worse, the story of the original NWN is easily the weakest in the whole trilogy.
So what I do is grab a few modules from the Neverwinter Vault to make the fights easier - for instance, Red Sisters' Lair is excellent (but somewhat overpowered) if you wish to play an evil character, especially an assassin. Don't worry about it munchkining your character - the most powerful items cannot be equipped until they have been identified, and even then, they can only be used by an assassin. Even some of the less powerful items cannot be used until identified.
If you don't want to be an assassin, you could try the Pretty Good Character Creator, a very small module that allows you to customize your character as you wish. You can give your character experience points, or gold to spend these at the various shops to slightly beef up your level 1 character.
I highly recommend the list of NWN 1 Hall of Fame Modules. Kevin Chan's two "Tales of Arterra" modules are especially good, as you don't get XPs unless you roleplay your character properly and advance the story. You get XPs for solving quests. Tip: for the best reaction from your party members the way they expect to be treated (e.g. treat good characters well and kindly, treat evil characters evilly or strongly). This will make them wish to open up more and make the adventure more interesting.
Enjoy!
