I'm speaking more generally, not just about Marvel movies.

Technically she can't because THAT Thanos was snapped out of existence. So really they've screwed things up far more than they ever possibly could by not returning Gamora lol.

Warning: Me overthinking time travel is about to happen.

[Overthinking]
When both Nebulas "collide" in 2014, it splinters off a separate Timeline-B, creating a separate Thanos, Nebula, and Gamora. The Gamora in Timeline-A still exists, carries on to join the Guardians and eventually dies. Meanwhile Timeline-B merges back into Timeline-A when Nebula-B uses Nebula-A's time-suit to return to its point of origin in 2023-A, bringing Thanos-B and Gamora-B with it. Timeline-B is no longered splintered and becomes part of Timeline-A's history starting in 2023.

Meanwhile, Captain America goes back to return the Infinity Stones and Thor's Hammer to their proper places in Timeline-A. This prevents their timeline from splintering, and everything that happened in "Infinity War" isn't undone; it remains part of Timeline-A's history. Furthermore, he hooks up with Peggy and becomes her secret husband - which is still part of Timeline-A apparently.

The only thing that messes up the timeline are the unresolved splinters. The biggest one is Loki escaping in 2012, which probably created a Timeline-C which won't get resolved anytime soon. And sending Gamora-B back in time would either result in two Gamoras in Timeline-A, or a Timeline-D. We don't know why splintered timelines are a problem yet, but Tilda Swinton worries about it, so that's enough for me.

Oh, I am pretty sure we will hear about this much sooner than you may realize.

I meant not returning Thanos not Gamora. And sorry, I forgot to spoiler tag.

The one thing that totally messes up this new time travel theory (in movies anyway) is that Cap ended up growing old from living in the past to the present. Technically that should be a separate timeline and Cap should have just never returned in any form back into Timeline A. But that's ok, I forgive it. It was a fun ride and that's all that matters. If this were Back to the Future then I would have issues.

Lol no, I'm saying Back To The Future revolved around Time Travel as a central plot point. It's what the movie is all about. The Avengers and the MCU is not a Time Travel Franchise. So I don't expect a whole lot of continuity as much as I would from Back to the Future which has loads of continuity. Loads more than Endgame, anyway.

 Hopefully you caught the reference I was making? Because that's what Tony Stark (Iron Man) says to Scott Lang (Ant-Man) at the lodge when they first come to Tony with the time travel plan.

Yeah I caught it. Pretty obvious from the screenshot. :)
