Yes, I found that my graphics driver was last installed in 2016 (and was about 2 years out of date - the most recent driver for my card is from 2018). Downloading now, will install.
Incidentally, if my driver is so out-of-date, why was Windows Device Manager telling me that my card was all right? False positives like that are worrying ...
I believe the vendors have to basically tell Microsoft of their updates. So if the vendor doesn't let Microsoft know, the generic "check for updates" is like, "No, you're good."
In general, for any kind of drivers - video, sound, whatever - simply check the vendor's website rather than trust Microsoft to update it.
A lot of vendors now create packages that will check for updates for you, rather than relying on Microsoft's thing.

Welp, there goes a frustrating hour. I updated my drivers, restarted my computer, re-downloaded the demo, unzipped it, ran it, and .......... nothing, nada, zip, zip-ola, scratch. Just a black screen, and no way back to Win-doze except doing a(nother) hard reboot. :(
Oh, well ...
I was surprised, though, that after opening the zip file, it allowed me to place the game files anywhere I wanted. (I created a "Demo" folder under the default "Downloads" folder, just to make it easy to find the files again). I thought that, perhaps, there would be an installer of some kind? *shrug*
I've not tried the demo, so I am not familiar myself.

How about asking Transolar Games? It is the support for the game.

Yep, I did ask Transolar - as I said earlier in this thread:
Thanks, MI. I just tried Summer Daze again and nothing happened, so I sent Lori and Corey a message on their website. Hopefully I get a reply ... fingers crossed. :)
...and later...
Thanks, Tawm. :) So far, the Coles simply asked me for my system info because they've never encountered this situation before. I supplied it. Fingers crossed.
Nothing happened after that, so ...
