MK9 isn't so much a story of how these guys came to be, it's an alternate past. Some people are human instead of cyborg this time around and some people who never went cyborg before become cyborg now (like Sub-Zero).

Well, it becomes an alternate reality because of what Raiden does. The events he tries to change cause a ripple...

And the ones who are human - Cyrax and Sektor - you get to see them turn into Cyborgs. Because you learn why they even change in the first place...

Well I bought the game on Sunday (360) and have to say i'm impressed by the game so far. I was so glad to see the controls run smoothly.

I started working on the challenge tower and I do believe it is going to take forever to finish it. Already on number 54.

I pretty much got destroyed online. It seems like EVERYONE wants to be Scorpion.

Shouldn't take long for me to get pretty good at this, I did the tutorial a few minutes ago and learned some valuable things. Like how to finally use an enchanced attack and how the breaker works.

People on XBOX Live will strictly use Scorpion or Lui Kang. Also, it seems like most will wait until YOU select first, to see which is the best character to counter your selection.

I did Johnny Cage, and the guy waited, then selected Lui Kang, and basically spammed fireballs and the super fly kick. Then another time I did Mileena, and the person waited, and selected Kitana (which is the perfect counter to Mileena, because of the fan floating thing that counters Mileena's dive through the floor). Not to say they're cheaters, because a lot of them are really good at MK, and I'd consider myself Average.

As for the Tower Challenge - here's something to note. Don't ever stop and retry the match DURING the match. If you lose, wait and retry then. If a challenge proves too difficult the AI will adapt itself. So literally if you lose 10 times in a row in a single challenge the AI will respond by virtually standing still.

I've finally found someone to counter Scorpion and every other teleporter for that matter! Sub-Zero is the best at this. I just use his move where he makes an ice body of himself and stands near it. Every time someone has tried to hit me with a teleport move it has worked. He also has a great slide attack.

Had my first winning streak last night!

I beat the game over the weekend and Shao Kahn is the biggest prick ever in MK. He's so unfair!

There is an easy way I found to beat him with Liu Kang though you have to spam low fireball, fighting him straight up with fly kicks and uppercuts won't work.

Safe to assume you fight Shao Kahn several times in story mode? Not just with Liu Kang?

My brother bought MK9 for me on PS3 the other day. We're having a whole Game Day this weekend and I won't see it until then. Can't wait to play it.

Awesome! MK is much funner with folks you know! (No one gets all pissed off or takes it too seriously!) Because of a hand injury, I have had to put MK to the side, and been playing "Star Wars Legos II" (the Original Trilogy) because it's easier on the hands and still lets me get some gaming in.

http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/7 ... -skarlett/

At the PDP Mortal Kombat tournament this weekend in Las Vegas I got a chance to briefly sit down with Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat where he mentioned that the competitive fighting game will be receiving some DLC and a patch later this month.

He didn't go too much in depth regarding the DLC, only mentioning that it would focus on the character Skarlett and that we can also expect some free stuff. Perhaps more costumes and stages?

Boon also mentioned that they plan on releasing patch note updates on themortalkombat.com so that competitive players can keep up to date on all of the changes that are going in to the game, as there are tons of tweaks to be made here and there.

We'll have the entire interview available for you later on today, so be sure to stay tuned!

What do you think about the first Mortal Kombat DLC? Is the iconic Skarlett a character that you're interested in playing with a bit more?

Played some MK over the weekend with my brother. Took a bit of time to get used to again but once I did it was some great fun. I got it from Toys R Us instead of Gamestop so the exclusive bonus content was the classic costume for Kitana or Mileena or something instead of Scorpion. Disappointing. But maybe there'll be other opportunities in the future.

Started story mode. I made it up to the fight with Kitana and Jade. Man those tag team fights are tough when you're on your own! Story is quite good.
