DeadPoolX on GK2... No, Wait - Click vs Type Interface wrote: I can understand liking the text-parser interface over the point-and-click one. Although it could be more difficult and frustrating at times (due to needing the exact word the designer thought of), it also allowed a greater deal of flexibility. It was also fun to type weird and obscene things.
Exactly! I think often times a lot more humor was to be found in the text parser vs the mouse click nonsense. But then, I also understand that this made Sierra games much easier (moving to mouse clicky) for people where English is not their primary language! So that's definitely a bonus that these games reached a much broader audience.
DeadPoolX on NWN HotKeys wrote:Yes, we did. However, I think the idea of having to learn and memorize over 50 hotkeys is just as ridiculous as using the radial menu.
Well you didn't have to use all 50+! It just depended on how lazy you were. Like for someone who put all their weapons on hotkeys to easily (and quickly change them, vs going into the inventory and switching it) - there was that option. Or if you wanted to just do spells. Or skills. Or maybe all your spells on the regular, weapons on the SHIFT, and skills on the ALT.

Well, that's certainly one way to look at it. Honestly, I don't have a real problem with the GH series itself. I've played it and it's fun. The one thing that bugs me is when the die-hard GH players think they're really guitarists and "rock gods."

Look at it this way: I've played plenty of sports games, first-person shooters and flight simulators. If I couldn't make the distinction between games and reality, I might actually think I was on par with a professional athlete, an experienced soldier or a pilot.

I'm none of those things, despite having logged tons of hours playing those games (most of which I'm quite good at, too). That's all I'm talking about. Being good at a game is not the same as being good at it in real life.
You do realize I was being silly about Playing Actively (was making reference to how you described GK2 - whether active or passively). :)

No, I didn't. :P

I guess we can chalk that up to one of those (many) times that something said is lost due to text. In real life, we have expressions, vocal tone and gestures. We don't have a lot on here, do we?

 True! I was sure you would have gotten what I was doing there!
I think it's because people on my own forum know what a silly twit I am - so I always think it carries over where ever I go.

Another under rated game besides strike base is 3d rc racers by dynamix. I found that to be such a fun fast paced racing title. Power ups and great track layouts and great cars made a great game. I used to play that game for hours and for some reason find it to be my favourite game from the sierra family. Not quite my favourite sierra game ever though, that goes to Light house. That game had some really fun puzles and really I was really into the game. It had so much depth in it and the game really had some fun technology oriented puzzles that I really liked. I never liked how it used to crash once and a while on the windowsw 95 computer I used back then. I actually have the areas where the game crashes most often memorized and noticed a few areas where I never had the game crash on me. The beggining parts seem to be the most stable. It starts getting less stable when you go into the beach. Some parts of the beach areas some to be rather stable and others seem to be crash prone. Hoyle is another under rated series with hoyle cards and hoyle board games but really the original hoyle casino is all you need as it has all of the good gambling games on it.
