You mean "increase my maximum bid" right?

I so want it!

Collector did not say to increase your max bid. We have no idea what your max bid is. But if it's you at the highest bid at $14 right now, then you bid too early. I expect the price to go well above that. The reason why you should avoid bidding early (unless under the circumstances Collector mentionned), is that you push up the price and tempt others to bid higher aswell, since there's still a lot of time left. It makes it more likely that the final price will be higher than you hope for.
If you really want it, put the max around $58 and you'll have it with 99% certainty, probably for a lower price too. I tend to push my max bids well above the level where people hook off, especially for items i really want.

OK. So, in the last few seconds, you suggest me to put $58 where it says "Your maximum bid" and then click on "Place Bid" or have I to use the "1 click bid" option?

I wouldn't use the 1-click. I tried it once and nearly lost the auction. Just stay in the auction page and continuously refresh the page during the last minute. When the timer goes below 20 seconds, hit it. Only a nutcase would go above $58 for this box. If there's such a bidderr, then don't worry about it cause you'll get a cheaper chance later.

Just click on the link "# bids", to see the details of the bids that were made and at what time they were made. During the last 10 seconds, 2 snipers outbid your $25 max, but then of course you blew them out of the water with your own sniper shot. Total kill !

So how does everyone find their games?

I use eBay abour 80% of the time. I do a general search for "vintage pc games" then select the catagory "vintage games". Remove my search words and click search again, then I check "PC" and review all the newly listed items.

Search for "Vintage Computing", following the same above I select catagory and remove search text then review all listing. I find some nice gems in this one but you have to go through a lot of listings.


A few times I have found some items on Craigs List. Met up with a guy once who had some crazy rare sierra stuff and just about every game in triplicate. He wanted 5000.00 for his entire collection (about 580 games) but it just didnt fit in the budget at the time.

Lastly I go out with my Fiance to Garage sales sometimes. I have found a couple of Space Quests and other vintage games this way for like 50 cents.

For myself, I have been playing Sierra games as they came out... the only time I needed anything is because back in the day my friend and I would split 50/50 on the games and rotate ownership. I ended up with most of the games on my own later, there were a few that eluded me... namely Space Quest 1 EGA... which... ironically... I now own 3 copies of... (which would make my wife strangle me if she knew)... but it's cool because it's 3 different versions of the EGA game... including different box covers. (Well one of them, piss me off, didn't come with a cover, despite the bid showing a cover... But that rant is somewhere on this forum).

Mostly I find my games for a snip at second-hand stores and flea markets. Although I do get issues from time to time (Hoyle disk that was cracked, or the KQ5 box that was empty except for the documentation), it's often a great source, if you prefer the game over the box.

I have tried a few second hand shops and never find anything. I will have to try flea markets next time!
