Are you "The Operative: No One Lives Forever"? (I'd be very surprised if you were)
No, it's not NOLF.

Remember I said you could choose to play a male or female character? You can't do that in NOLF... unless there's something you know about Cate Archer that I don't.

All right. Like I said, I don't know much about first-person shooters.

Are you ... "Unreal"? Or "Unreal: Tournament"?

Man. I've played a lot of first person shooters. But off the top of my head I can't remember any where you can pick a gender.

So this is going to be a guessing game...

Are you in the fallout series?

No, it's not Unreal or Unreal Tournament. How many "suspects" do you have left?

I wouldn't call the newer Fallout games (new as in "from Fallout 3 onward") FPS titles since they more closely resemble RPGs, especially if you use VATS instead of trying to fight everything in real-time.

Also... I said you play a security officer on a "lost ship" and you're not a security officer in any of the Fallout games nor are you on a ship in outer space.

Okay, this will probably give it away, but here's another hint: This game is based on an extremely well-known science fiction IP that's been around for decades in multiple forms of media.

I have quite a few, but I hope I'm not annoying you with my random guesses. :(

Yup, this was my next guess -- but I thought it was too ridiculous.

Is the game "Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force"?

Why would that have been too ridiculous?

It fits all the criteria as far as my hints and clues go:
  • It's a first-person shooter
  • You play a security officer (called the "Hazard Team" in-game)
  • You can choose between a male (Alexander Munro) or a female (Alexandria Munro) character
  • In conversation, both are called the same thing (i.e. either "Ensign Munro" or "Alex")
  • Your commanding officer is female (Captain Kathryn Janeway)
  • You're on a "lost ship" (USS Voyager)
  • You fight cybernetic enemies (the Borg)
  • The rank structure in the game is based on the US Navy
  • The game's subject matter is science fiction and based on an IP (Star Trek) that's been around for decades in multiple formats
Anyway... you're right, the game I was thinking of was Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force! :)

Fair enough. :) As I said, I don't know much about FPSes or Star Trek.

I remember a computer game where I played a cyborg who must find out what's happening, hack defenses from security and computer equipment, and put up with FMV that creates "cinematic experiences".

Pretty sure DPX is right... but, why not...

Are you Maximum Surge?

How does everyone remember these games? It is indeed Bioforge (1995).

Your turn, DPX!

Some we've played, some clues will be enough to get it from google. :)

I've played a lot of games and I have a great memory for seemingly irrelevant trivia. :D

I remember a computer game that's a co-op Action-RPG based on based on several different ancient mythologies.

I am not sure if it's considered Action-RPG...

Are you in AGE OF EMPIRES?

Nope, AoE is a Real-Time Strategy game, not an ARPG. I don't think AoE had different ancient mythologies in it. I remember different cultures, but that's not the same thing.

(I'll save everyone time and also say it's not Age of Mythology, because again... that's an RTS.)

HINT: With the expansions, this game has a total of 10 specializations that can be taken alone or in combination with another specialization. This leads to a huge number of classes available for players.

I've never played this but is it TITAN QUEST?

I noticed several DLCs...
IMMORTAL THRONE - Encounter the greatest villains of Greek mythology, brave the attacks of Cerberus, and hazard the banks of the River Styx to conquer this dark new adventure.
RAGNARÖK - In the uncharted lands of northern Europe, you’ll brave the realms of the Celts, the Northmen, and the Asgardian gods!
ATLANTIS - Set out on a journey across the western Mediterranean, in search of the mythical kingdom of Atlantis. Including the Tartarus Arena for epic battles!

And -
80 different mythological creatures: Minotaurs, Cyclopses, Gorgons, and many more
1200+ items to discover
30 different character classes
150 different character skills

And it does have co-op from what I found -
Titan Quest was released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One earlier this year, the classic titles first appearance on home consoles. The new mode will now allow fans to play the game together on a single television, apart from the 6-player online co-op multiplayer.
