Anyone want to take it to get the game going again?

I will. Sorry for the delay - I've been busy with my new job, so I haven't had much time to browse the Internet.

Wow, I have no idea. Looks like it could be the EGA 16 color, dithered version of an otherwise VGA-era 256 color game? That might narrow it down a bit..

It does not look like an SCI PC game. With the vertical lines of color it is a different platform or engine.

It could be King's Quest V on NES, but really.. that had horizontally thick pixels not vertically thick ones..

Believe it or not, it is an SCI game. However, because you guys know how these VGA games look inside and out, I decided to mess with you all and use the EGA driver from Space Quest V. :D (Free hint: the game which goes with the screenshot I posted is not Space Quest V - that would be too easy!)

That kind of looks like the rock you get the dagger from in the KQ1 remake...

Nope. The game the screenshot comes from is not a remake.

Post a normal screenshot of the exact same spot. Choosing a display driver that didn't even ship with the game has killed this thread.

As requested, here's the same spot as before, only using the VGA driver the game came with:
