Are you seen between Sutter's fort and Jerrod's brother's place? (Out in the wild)
How to answer this.
I'm going to say: yes and no. That might give it away. Remember my original clue.
You can't walk to me
But I'm the end of the line
Bad sense of humor?
Hrm. Though I had it. Because you can't walk to the screen. It's the end of the line no matter what you say. And though end of the line meant the end of Jerrod as well as the noose.
So...
Are you on that screen I mentioned?

Are you the structure that Jerrod stands on? (No idea what the wooden thing is called, technically)

Are you the scaffold in this screenshot?

I just thought I'd point out what it's called.
A scaffold is a raised wooden platform, used formerly for the public execution of criminals.
A gallows, on the other hand, refers specifically to a frame or elevated beam, typically wooden, from which objects can be suspended or "weighed". It normally has two vertical beams and one horizontal crossbeam on top, from where the rope is suspended. It can have more than one rope, too.
However, the gallows were widely used to suspend public weighing scales for large and heavy objects, such as sacks of grain or minerals, usually positioned in markets or toll gates. The term was also used for a projecting framework from which a ship's anchor might be raised, so it is no longer sitting on the seabed, riverbed or dock; "weighing [the] anchor" meant raising it using this apparatus, while avoiding striking the ship's hull.
In modern usage the term "gallows" means, almost exclusively, a scaffold or gibbet used for execution by hanging.
Sorry to digress, but I thought it was interesting).

Yes, I am the "scaffold". Rath does bring up a good point. With the rope tied to the tree, it's technically not a gallows. Although, I thought it was when I came up with the clues:
You can't walk to me - You can only reach the screen by failing the copy protection check or "claim jumping", i.e. panning for gold too close to someone else.
But I'm the end of the line - You die here.
Bad sense of humor? - "Gallows humor". Like I said, I thought this was a gallows.

Oops! *blush* Tawm, you did most of the hard work. I wouldn't want to jump in at the last second and steal this one from you.

I'll think about which one to do next, but Tawm, if you want to take this one, go for it.
NBS, no problem about "scaffold" vs. "gallows".
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
The difference hasn't been used for, ooh, over a century or so? I don't know if anyone's been hanged in public (in the USA, anyway) since the introduction of the electric chair. That was in the early 1900s, so let's give them - say - 10 years to get the chair right. I'm pretty sure that, by the 1920s, people were executed by chair rather than by hanging.
I wouldn't have known about any of this if I hadn't looked it up.

Are you in a game that has 'quest' somewhere in the title (such as, oh, I dunno, Quest for Glory... or King's Quest, EcoQuest, ConQuest, BeQuest, etc)?
