HINT 1: The game I'm thinking of was released MUCH later than the early 90s.

HINT 2: The game I'm thinking of is not Red Baron (or any of its sequels), because I imagine that'd be the "go-to" thought when it comes to WW1 and knowing my gaming preferences.

And thank you! The two Red Baron games were published in 1990 (Red Baron 1) and 1997 (Red Baron 2). So I didn't think it would be either of them, it's too obvious a guess!

Nope, the game I'm thinking of was released more recently than 2009, and is currently sold on Steam.

Well, there's a (recent) VR game called "Warplanes: WW1 Fighters" on Steam that's a flight sim. I just don't know about controlling more planes. Since I am not savvy with the flight sim games unless it's Star Wars related.
So everything's a stab in the dark, for me.

No, it's not Air Conflicts: Secret War, and... you somehow linked to the incorrect game. You linked to Warplanes: WW1 Fighters, which was the SAME game that Tawmis linked to and I already told him that wasn't correct because the game I'm thinking of isn't VR or a Flight Sim.

Okay, here's a hint that'll probably give the damn game away: It's a turn-based game.

You've previously asked "was this game published from 2005-2009?" and "was this game published from 2019-2021?" I answered NO to both, which means this game was released sometime between 2010 and 2018. I really don't know how much clearer I can be without outright stating the release date.

I think there might be a misunderstanding here. Since VR and flight sims don't mean much to me, I can't tell if a game belongs to those categories or not. If your game isn't one of them, I can't tell.

Okay, but Steam lists the genre, and the store page lets you you know if a game is VR-compatible or outright requires it.

Now if Steam or GOG or other sites like that didn't exist and didn't list the genre clearly, then I could understand not knowing if a game is a Flight Sim or not (especially since simulators can differ in their authenticity and realism).

You got it! It's not a particularly complex game (although it does require you to think tactically), it's still fun and I've always liked turn-based games since there's no rush when playing.
