This is the very model of a clue that is original
For I am not a vegetable, animal, or mineral
Around this time, my presence is generally traditional
In fact I think you'll find my countenance to be typical

- Corn is a fruit, not a vegetable;
- I am not sure what the other two clues (traditional / typical) mean.
As for the other clues:
- I am found closer to home ....................................... yes, it's near the town
- I don't see the light of day ......................................... because corn has no eyes (unlike potatoes)
- 'Tis the season -- wrong season................................... OK, clearly the season refers to the fall, i.e. the season of harvest.
- I am and am not found on that screenshot..................... yes, you're seen in that screenshot, and are also seen later, when the hero gives the corn to Baba Yaga's chicken hut
