Well, there are white onions too ... They have a crisp texture and a sharp, slightly sweet flavor. They're often used raw in salsas, guacamole, and salads because of their milder bite compared to red or yellow onions. They are also perfect in stir-fries, Mexican cuisine, and marinades.

- The scarecrow's "presence" next to the harvest is traditional;
- The scarecrow's "countenance" is definitely "typical".

As for the other clues:

I don't see the light of day ......................................... because scarecrows don't see ANYTHING!
- 'Tis the season -- wrong season................................... OK, clearly the season refers to the fall, i.e. the season of harvest.

- I am not sure what the other two clues (traditional / typical) mean.

As for the other clues:
