Good news :)

Seems the GOG Team listened to Collector and made a new installer with a few fixes for GK 2. :D

I have already downloaded it. It has the exact changes that my patch for the GOG version does, except that it strips out my config tool and my readme. Of course there is no acknowledgment of me, not that I was asking for any. You can tell that they are now using my dosbox.conf, not only because it has the same contents, but I had started with the conf from my installer and just changed the mounting and added the full screen command. I didn't take out the autolock, which is not needed with full screen.

Crappy that there's no acknowledgment. You figure they could at least leave that in there...

I agree. It's pathetic not to acknowledge your work, Collector. Why didn't you ask for it? It's well deserved, damn it!

Rather than that, I wish that they would consult me or someone that has knowledge of the AGI and SCI games before their releases. This could prevent the kind of errors that they have with their releases.

One way to help Collector is, if you do purchase from Gog.com (or tell others) - use the links provided in the first post of this thread. It's a special link that associates to SHP.

Even though they used my dosbox.conf, they removed the MIDNONE.DRV and changed the RESOURCE.CFG to use the MT32.DRV. This results in a long delay for the game to load while it tries to send SysEx data to a nonexistent MT-32 and results in crappy music. The game was not optimized for the MT-32 and anytime you use the MT-32 driver with regular MIDI equipment it is very off, with wrong instruments, etc. The use of the MIDNONE driver will make the game use digital music instead of MIDI.

OK, I've had a chance to look at a little closer and found out what happened. Rather than use my patch, they followed my instructions to manually fix the game and deleted the MIDNONE.DRV with all of the duplicate patch files in the game's base folder. This causes the game to game to crash on launch. Rather than to investigate what they did wrong they just dropped in a bunch of audio drivers form another game. Rarely can you use drivers from another game and have it work. The MT-32 driver was the only one that almost worked, but only with distorted sound and wrong instruments. I guess that I will report this on their forums, too.

GOG finally released the last GK game. Now we only need to find out, which installer they used.

Seems my post about GOG now offering all 3 Gobliiins for $5.99 got lost :)

So far it's the CD versions, but they are working on getting the floppy versions too.

EDIT:
Oops, NOT a Sierra game, I know... darn, how do I move it?

Don't worry. If a post disappeared, it was probably because SHP was moved to a new server and a couple of posts were lost. And the Gobliiins were Sierra family games (Coktel Vision).

It's fine. It's still part of the Sierra family ;)
