They have; not as vocal as LSLR has been, no. And Jane's have been off and on too, though. At least we're seeing in game screen shots and the like. I am okay with it being slow, so long as I get it before I leave this world.

agreed it's going slowly. There is a trade-off between "not having to meet a deadline despite bugs" and "waiting so long to loose your customer base." I'm not faulting them for being late (originally the KS campaign said due Feb 2013, I believe?), and do want a crash-proof experience. I just also hope they don't take so long as to miss their opportunity to cash in on the "return of the adventure." Take too long, and it will fall again before it has a chance to take off.

We're heading to Atlanta in a few weeks, I'm going to try and catch up with Chris Pope for lunch.. see what insights he can give me. :)

I have a loosely tentative arrangement with Chris Pope and Scott Murphy (and I assume Mark Crowe) when they're down here in San Diego for SDCC to possibly meet up.

Awesome. I don't know Mark at all, but Scott is super.. We had such a great time at lunch last summer.

Well, yes, sorry, for backers.

That is something that probably should change before too long. I understand that they rightfully feel that the backers should receive extra consideration, but they will want to attract more customers than just the original backers. Give the backers first crack, but after, say a couple of weeks or so, release it to the general public.

It's an interesting topic. I would feel better (as a backer) if the version released to the backers was somehow bigger than that released to the general public. The public demo could just be a reduced version of the backer demo, easier to build.

I'm sure before long the backer demo will "end up" as a public download anyway. I don't agree with it, but I doubt it's avoidable with the number of backers..

Nice! So I had made plans with Scott Murphy to meet up with him while he was doing San Diego Comic Con - unfortunately, at the same time, my wife had planned a Palm Springs trip on that very same weekend. I was upset how it all worked out, because I had a chance to meet Scott and Mark, and we could do Palm Springs ANYTIME, but our friends had already taken Monday off from work - so there was no reversing it, without being a major inconvenience to my two closest friends (whom I have known forever). Fortunately a co-worker, and fellow fan of Sierra games, was going and nabbed me their autographs, at least! So I managed to come away with something without being there. Scott's comments are pretty funny, because my co-worker sold me out as to why I wasn't there...

Having finished the demo (finally), I'm still very interested and excited to see where SV leads. The demo was great-- extremely very highly unbelievably BUGGY-- but great nevertheless. Lots of familiar puzzle elements, humor, etc.

I'll have to amend what I said in the above-quote, because it seems that the demo will in fact eventually be released to the public. I saw someone else's post (here, or maybe on spacequest.net) that mentioned the demo would eventually be released to the public but the backers are getting early access to it. I understand that and can appreciate it, so my earlier comment about feeling better if the backers get to see more than the public needs to be struck through; backers DO get to see things early, and that's what was promised, and being delivered. :D

Hey, you could call the backers beta testers. They would be more forgiving of bugs than the general public.

If "Space Quest" was made in the mid-70s...

You are in a maze of twisty little spaceship corridors, all alike.

 Pretty much true.

Have you ever played Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy text adventure game?

Makes Codename: Iceman look like Leisure Suit Larry 5 (impossible to dead end).
