Yes, I would have taken farmer or the cow.

A small price to pay ---- Small price is the cigs
For things not to go up in smoke ---- go up is a reference to the guy seen in the plane, the smoke is again a reference to the cigs....
There might be a different way ---- this is the sewer route rather than the front gate route
But it will have to be broke. -- you need to break into the sewer using the crow bar
