A cocktail made from equal parts gin, whiskey, and absinthe. I tried making it, twice. The first time it wasn't too bad. The second time I really didn't like it. I'm not sure what I did differently.

Did ye use a different absinthe? Because that can make a world of difference.

I no longer drink, but many years ago in New Orleans when I first discovered absinthe - I found Lucid to be the best brand.

I used Kübler Absinthe in both cases. I liked it and used it in other things, but it's the only one I've tried so I can't compare it to other brands. I think it may have been the whiskey. I didn't have anything else so I used nips. The second time I may have used something too cheap. Then again, the cocktail is an acquired taste. The recipe from The Savoy Cocktail book concludes with "This cocktail should immediately be poured down the sink before it is too late."

TORO'S PASSAGE

Toro emerged from the tunnel in Spielburg, blinking in the light. So this was the big city! How neat! :)

He went to the bar, ordered a BUNNY HUG, and downed it without any trouble. That should persuade those pesky humans not to mess with Toro!

"So whatcha doin' here, big guy?" The barman said as he STUPIDLY mopped a glass. (Barmen always mop glasses. It's the kind of thing that always happens, even if the bar is on URANUS and the barman has (2^82,589,933) - 1 tentacles instead of hands).

Toro shrugged. "Toro dunno. Make things better between minotaurs and hoo-mans, maybe?"

"That's lucky," the barman said. "The Baron decreed that we should compete in sports with the rest of Gloriana. So we need a sports team. Any ideas?"

Toro SANG. "Dunno. What you good at?"

"Basketball is very popular."

"You throw ball in basket? Why?"

The barman's eyes flickered this way and that. "Because ... it's fun?"

"Fun," Toro said hollowly. "What is fun? I just drank an SCREAMING ORGASM. Is that fun?"

"Sure."

"Good!" Toro banged his fist on the bar. "Toro start team! It called ... um ... well, I'm part-bull. So it called ... The Spielburg Bulls."

To be continued ... maybe ;)

Who's next?

Toro like getting top billing. :)

Speaking of cocktails, there are several with the name Corpse Reviver. In a fantasy setting like QFG, you have to be careful that they don't do just that.

Shivers III: The [SITTING] OF THE [BULL]

Story concept. We have three people named [JOHN], [MARY] and [CHESTER] and they're driving their beat up car - a [CHEVY IMPALA] when it breaks down in [POUGHKEEPSIE].

It's midnight, and everything's closed - except a muesum called THE [ULTRAMARINE] [CHEETAH]. They go inside, and discover it's very quiet. No one is there.

They realize no one is even in the town.

Everything's closed - because no one is there.

Just then, the door slam shut trapping them inside the muesum...

John will look around and notice the muesum lights turn on - and in the hallway he spots a ghostly image of a [NOUN].

When he points it out, strangely - Mary doesn't see the same thing. Instead the ghostly image she sees is a [COLOR] [NOUN].

When Chester looks, he sees his father - a man named [MAN'S FIRST NAME] [LAST NAME].

All three hear the haunting roar of a large feline - and just in front of them - a spirital cheetah seems to be staring intently at them...

TO BE CONTINUED?

I had the idea about "Toro's Passage" a few months ago. I couldn't resist the pun on "Torin's Passage". ;)

I thought about "Toro's Massage" (co-starring Larry Laffer) but decided it was too ridiculous. :D
