Interesting. What makes you feel as the main character is a woman/female?

For me, it struck me as male.
The voicemail from the mother at the beginning - sort of sounds like how I think a concerned mother (overly protective) would speak to her son ("Don't forget, dear, about..." etc).
If it'd been like the father who left the voicemail, with those same words, I would have taken it as a female (as the overly protective father calling his daughter).
For me it was the handbag in the main character's home (7:14 in your long video) that made me think a woman. The voicemail from the mother could easily from mother to daughter.

Oh, good call. It does take place in the Oregon Coast.

Funny, even though it's right at the start (that it's the Oregon Coast)... I automatically assumed like Ireland or some more... exotic location, because Lighthouses don't seem to be a US thing (which is funny, because one of my friends go married near a lighthouse in San Diego and when we went to visit my wife's family in Boston, we went to a lighthouse...)

So when I saw the bag, my mind went European, which a male would carry that kind of bag.

But you're right.

Oregon Coast, is US.

So that does look more like a female type handbag.

King's Quest IX: Quest for the [INFINITE] Crown.

Rosella awoke to the frightened sounds of her mother coming down the hall. As Rosella stirred out of bed, she saw a [KIWI] in the window. She paused for a moment as the bird seemed very interested in her, before turning around and opening the door and shouting, "[IF YOU WERE A TREE, WHAT KIND OF TREE WOULD YOU BE]?"

Valanice, wearing a [PRUSSIAN BLUE] dress spun around, "Rosella! Thank the maker, you're all right. It seems the Crown has gone missing - and so has your father!"

"Where is Alexander?" Rosella asked, looking around. "He had better not gone on a quest to find father or the crown."

"No, Alexander is in the [GARDEROBE] checking to see if your father is there," Valanice replied.

"Good," Rosella closed her door and grabbed her small bag of [PANTS] and opened the door again and said, "I will go find father."

Valanice reached out to stop her - but Rosella was already running down the long, [THE COLOUR OF MAGIC] halls.

Valanice sighed.

Um ... "Thank the Maker"? I thought this was King's Quest, not Dragon Age. I'm confused. :?

On the other hand, the phrase "a small bag of pants" tickles my funny bone.

I'll try and find some time to create a new one for this ... sorry. What with running around to get to work on time, and running around to get to rehearsal on time, and being unable to get much sleep because of an unseasonable frosty spell ... I'm both exhausted and freeze-dried. ;)

Wrong.

Try it's a Star Wars reference. It's what C-3PO says when he gets dunked in the cleaning thing by Luke. :)
Thank the Maker.

I used this reference, because I am unaware if in Daventry there is any lore about their "gods" if any such exist.

So I used the Star Wars quote, since it's very generic.

All right, I haven't seen that one before -- but when I looked up that expression on google, I saw it was in Mass Effect, too. Er ... what? :?

All right, never mind ... I'll just ignore the fact that everyone's suddenly thanking the maker. And thank the maker for that, too. ;)

Larry Left Laura in the Land of the Lounge Lizards

Laura Bow opened her [PART OF A FACE] and looked around. There didn't seem to be any obvious danger. She was lying on cool sheets, underneath a comforter, with her head on a pillow.

No-one seemed about to stab her or shoot her or hack her head off. Good.

She swung her legs off the bed and ... wait a moment! Why was she wearing trousers? [SOUTHERN EXPRESSION OF SURPRISE] Someone's been leavin' great hulkin' footy-prints all over her clean floor!

She looked in the mirror. "Ahhhhhhhhh!"

Where was her dress? Where was her bow? She was [PRESENT TENSE VERB] a white suit slightly too big for her, a [COLOR] shirt open at the throat -- thank goodness she was completely ... ahem ... "covered" -- and a golden medallion that looked like it went out of fashion 20 years ago.

She sniffed [ADVERB]. What -- was she wearing aftershave? But she was too young to shave, wasn't she?

Surely there was some mistake. That was it. Someone would soon open the door and give her back her clothes--

Someone was knocking at the door. "Are you all right?" A voice [PAST TENSE VERB].

All right, Laura, think. How are you to get out of this mess?

"I--" she was aware there was a tremor in her voice. "I don't know?"

The door opened, and a balding middle-aged man, wearing slacks, a shirt, a tie, an apron and several unknowable stains barged in. "What d'ya mean, you don't know?" He [PAST TENSE VERB]. "And who are you, anyway?"

"I -- who are you?"

"I own this pub, miss. Says so on the sign," the man said. "Lefty, that's me. And who might you be?"

"I -- my name's Laura," Laura [PAST TENSE VERB] on the bedside [NOUN]. "Laura Bow."

"Leisure Suit Laura, eh?"

"N-no," Laura said. "J-just Laura."

"But you're wearing a leisure suit," Lefty pointed out.

"What's a leisure suit, please?"

"[NEVADA EXPRESSION OF SURPRISE], girl!" Lefty picked at his apron and [PAST TENSE VERB] the stains a bit deeper. "Don't tell me you don't know what a leisure suit is!"

"But sir -- er, Lefty," Laura grabbed at this lifeline, "I don't know what a leisure--"

"I told you not to tell me that!" Lefty roared.

What's next for our heroine? Will she get out of Lost Wages alive? Tune in next week, same Laura time, same Laura channel!
