Re: The Music Thread.
Back in July in this thread, I spoke about Mike Howe's surprise death (singer of a metal band called Metal Church).
They just announced this limited time Mike Howe memorial shirt (and other things) - but my interest is the shirt. I think it's incredible.
https://ratpakrecordsamerica.com/metal-church
Sadly, with all that's happened with the wife and her health, and us on a single income, I can't afford little extra stuff like this anymore. But damn, that's a beautiful shirt.

Re: The Music Thread.
I came across the band W.E.T. about a year ago - and caught a few songs. But was listening to them on Spotify today and realized, I really freaking love their music.

Re: The Music Thread.
One day after Banali's passing, his wife Regina spoke about plans for his memorial service during an appearance on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk". She stated at the time: "Funnily enough, he had already bought and paid for and planned his entire services at Forest Lawn [cemetery in Los Angeles] before his [cancer] diagnosis. He was gonna get the same kind of funeral that Ronnie [James Dio] got and Jimmy Bain and all those funerals that we've been to many times. He was saying we're gonna rent the [legendary West Hollywood restaurant and bar] Rainbow and have laminated passes and [have a] send-off in the rock and roll way that he arrived in L.A.," she continued. "He had a lot of history with the Rainbow."
Regina went on to say that there would likely be a large-scale memorial event in Frankie's honor once the coronavirus pandemic had subsided.
"I think it's better to go big, even if it's later," she explained to "Trunk Nation". "'Cause I think people will still care. And I think he deserves the honor and recognition that he's earned."
Frankie was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer on April 17, 2019 and given six months to live. He put up an inspiringly brave and courageous battle to the end and continued playing live as long as he could. Standard chemotherapy stopped working and a series of strokes made the continuation on a clinical trial impossible. He ultimately lost the fight at 7:18 p.m. on August 20, 2020 in Los Angeles surrounded by his wife and daughter.
Banali was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after going to the emergency room for shortness of breath, leg pain and loss of energy. A scan of his lungs caught an image of his liver, which is where the first spots were seen. Then came the discovery of a tumor on his pancreas. He had been in treatment since the spring of 2019 and completed his 21st round of chemotherapy not long before his death with the hopes of shrinking or controlling the cancer.
Banali's history with QUIET RIOT spanned over 37 years and he had the distinction of being the only member of the band to have recorded on every single QUIET RIOT release from 1983's "Metal Health", which was the first heavy metal album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart, through 2019's "Hollywood Cowboys". He also recorded seven albums with W.A.S.P. between 1989 and 2004.

Re: The Music Thread.
Do love Zep.
On another note - they just revealed this (for Frankie, the Quiet Riot drummer I mentioned in the previous post) -
A bust of late QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali was unveiled at a private event at the Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood, California on Sunday, November 14 on what would have been his 70th birthday.
Among the fellow musicians who attended "Frankie Banali Celebration Of Life - 70th Birthday Party" were all the members of the current lineup of QUIET RIOT, former AC/DC drummer Simon Wright, ex-WHITESNAKE/DIO guitarist Doug Aldrich, former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke, GUNS N' ROSES keyboardist Dizzy Reed, former DOKKEN and QUIET RIOT bassist Sean McNabb and legendary bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE).

Re: The Music Thread.
BWHAHAH! This is pretty hilarious.
These guys took Slayer's song "Season of the Abyss" and formed "Sleigher" - for this one shot.
These guys took Slayer's song "Season of the Abyss" and formed "Sleigher" - for this one shot.
Members of HAKEN, DREAM THEATER, PROTEST THE HERO, CRADLE OF FILTH and INHUMAN CONDITION have ventured south of Lapland for a festive version of a SLAYER classic. "Seasons Greetings In The Abyss" combines the music of SLAYER's "Seasons In The Abyss" with sleigh bell celebration, with alternate lyrics penned by artist and illustrator Dan Goldsworthy (ACCEPT, ALESTORM, SYLOSIS) and Charlie Griffiths of HAKEN, who also both take on guitar duties. Vocals are delivered by Canadian croon-maestro Rody "Angel Of Breath" Walker of PROTEST THE HERO and tuba (yes tuba!) is supplied by HAKEN drummer Ray "Nin Blood" Hearne. CRADLE OF FILTH's Dani-el "Awaits" Firth and INHUMAN CONDITION drummer Jeramie "Klerry" Kling fill out the core-ensemble and special guest Jordan "Captor Of Synth" Rudess of DREAM THEATER shows no mercy with a face mashing keyboard solo.
Griffiths had this to say about the collaboration: "Injecting this song with some Christmas cheer worked better than any of us expected! Apparently [SLAYER guitarist] Jeff Hanneman loved Christmas, so hopefully he would approve of our tribute and I hope we help to spread some musical merriment during yet another Christmas of uncertainty in the pandemic abyss. Thanks to all the guys for joining in with the fun and to Scott Atkins for mixing! Eternal gratitude to the all the members of SLAYER and we wish everyone a Merrytory Yuletide!"
"Seasons In The Abyss" is the title track of SLAYER's fifth studio album, which was released on October 9, 1990 through Def American Records.

Re: The Music Thread.
The internet can be so useful. There's an older band called WAYSTED which released an album I really enjoyed - but that singer left shortly after.
Just discovered today - he'd gone to another band I liked, and I never realized he sang on that album - and ALL of their albums (I only had the first on cassette!)
Well, googling around - found he had his own site - and had done some "lockdown" collaborations!
His name is Danny Vaughn - and I dig his voice.
So here is he is covering SCORPIONS' "Black Out"
This was just TOO much fun!! I'm so happy to have been asked to join in with all of these amazing players to recreate a cover of one of my favorite rock songs ever, Blackout by the Scorpions!!
Enjoy! This one rocks.
Guitar: Dee Dammers
Guitar: Phil Demmel
Bass: Michael Müller
Drums: André Hilgers
Backing Vocals: Peter Östros
Mix and Master by Michael Kraxenberger at Sick Of Sound Studios
Special thanks to Torsten Hüber for the hook up

Re: The Music Thread.
Did a collab to cover "WISHING WELL"
You know how lead singers like to use fans and wind machines to blow their hair around on stage and give them the best "beauty shots"? I just raised the bar on that!!
My good friends in DEEPER PURPLE have done it again! We decided to do the great FREE classic WISHING WELL this time. Always a little daunting singing on anything that Paul Rodgers has made his mark upon.
Deeper Purple are: Rob Sas on guitars, Phil Crombie on bass, Paul Morris on keys.
Also featuring Ross Elder on drums AND 2 members of TYKETTO, myself on lead vocals and Ged Rylands on keyboards.
Special thanks to Phil Crombie for mixing and mastering the audio as well as editing the video for ya!
