Install Windows 3.x Within DOSBox.

My brain hurts.
How is this done? I mean - it must be BEFORE installing DOSBox, yes? Like install it on C:\WIN3X (for example) - then load DOSBox - then mount C:\WIN3X as the C: drive? And then run the WIN3.X executable within DOSBox?
Not that I have Win3.x disks to even try this. I just keep seeing it mentioned and never understood how you install Win3x within DOSBox?

It is simple. Copy all of the 3x install files in a folder inside of your mounted C: drive. Change to that folder in DOSBox and run setup. You will need to install the SoundBlaster and graphics drivers after Windows is installed.

Okay. See. That's just it. You say "mounted C: drive."
Now do you mean within a DOSBox mounted C: drive?
What if you reboot? Wouldn't you lose the DOSBox window?
And to think... I am a tech... I just never understood this portion of DOSBox because I have never messed with it.

Mount a folder in DOSBox as its C: drive that has a sub folder with the 3x install files. change to that folder and run the setup. Just closing DOSBox, restarting it and remounting the same folder as the C: drive in effect reboots it. You can speed things up by mounting from the autoexec section of the dosbox.conf.
It may be a little dated, now but you can also use the
SHP guide to installing Win3x.
