For the issue with images when uploaded; that happens all the time if there's more than one. :)
Some are worth seeing twice!

I'd love to have a normal sized KQ7 box. My box is smaller - not the normal size. Almost like a collection box size (of the packaged ones they did in... 2000's-ish?)
King's Quest VI because there... three?... different colored boxes? Blue. Red. and Black?

Anyone know the reason for the different colors? I believe mine is red.

There are 5 colours. Blue, red, black, purple, and white (there are like 3 different kinds of white boxes too with different thicknesses). There doesn't seem to be a reason for them all. Just different releases. Some are on the same platform, some are floppy, some are CD, but some floppy and CD boxes have the same colours and some on multiple platforms use the same colours. There's no direct designation of version or platform for any of them.

Ah yes. I remember the white one, now. But don't recall the purple one.

It is a Slash release so technically not official I suppose, but yeah it's kind of light purple/periwinkle. It's unique enough to count anyway in my view. Most Slash releases just use the same art.

At one point I was convinced there was a yellow box I saw but I was mistaken.

(No boxes, alas, since there are no second-hand game stores where I live. Still, new acquisitions!) :D

*resists the urge to cackle maniacally* ;)

I've never heard of that Secret Agent one - what's that game about... er, besides being a Secret Agent. I see it's Shareware.

That one's by Apogee software (who created similar games in the early 1990s, like Crystal Caves and Duke Nukem - yes, the original). Back in the 1990s, the first game was shareware, but to play the others, you had to buy them.

Secret Agent is a side-scrolling platformer, and a parody of the James Bond films, while still being its own game. :) You have a bunch of levels to complete, which you do by blowing up radar dishes and then getting out through the (well-hidden) exit. Naturally, there are lots of enemies and traps, and lots of ways to die. ;)

Anway, last year, someone 'remastered' this game, added new levels, and put it on GOG (here) and on Steam (here). It's a fun little game, and not expensive. :) Give it a try!

Secret Agent is freaking awesome. One of my favourite classic Apogee platformers. It uses the same engine as Crystal Caves. The "HD" remaster is quite good (it's not actually in HD it just supports modern displays and has prettier colours than EGA, but it's tastefully done). Also has a bonus episode, level editor, and Steam Workshop integration.

I will need to check it out - that's some high praise.

A few weeks back I picked up the HD Crystal Caves.

Word of warning of course, it can be frustrating and challenging and sometimes tedious but it's not the worst example of such in the DOS gaming library. I am giving it high praise, but I just really enjoy it and loved my experience playing it as a kid. It's not some shining beacon of breakthrough game design or anything. It's just really fun. :)
