Xbox 360 wireless (or wired) controller with DOS games?

Does anyone know if you can use an Xbox 360 PC controller with DOS games like SIERRA DOS games that support joysticks? And to take it one step further, do you think it would be possible to use the Messenger Kit (you know, the "chat pad") in conjunction with the controller as a keyboard to type in these old DOS games? Just wondering, because that could be pretty awesome...
