Meeting the Master

I've hit another instance where the walkthroughs tell me to do one thing, but the game says otherwise.
I've been informed that after changing the past and saving the dying boozouk, all I need to do is return to Slammer's Dead End and a Master will appear and offer to train me. Well, I keep returning there, and I've walked all around his house, picked up all his stuff, re-entered the scene from all different angles, and even tried talking to the dying boozouk in the past again.
How am I supposed to make the Master appear? I can't get him to appear in any other place in the game other than the Prison tower where he gives me Facial Control.

Did you
pick up the stone fish(real fish from touching the jar in the past) from warriors armor back in present time, and put it in the stone at Slammers Dead End?

Yes, and I got the teleporter. Is he supposed to walk out when you do that?

In the past - did you blow the horn and go help the guy under the rocks right of the big statue?

Yes. Now every time I click on him, he repeats the same thing leaving a syllable in the statue. I also showed the key ring to the other boozouk and he's repeating himself as well.

I tried restarting the game and playing back up to that part. The Master still doesn't come out. I don't suppose anyone would know where to find save-games for Woodruff? I just need to get past the Master meeting.

I really have no clue what could be wrong.
If you're following the wakthrough exactly to the teeth, then maybe something is missing in it.
How about you simply go talk to everybody and click on everything again.
It's a habit of mine. I click and click again til everything repeats and if stuck, I do it all over again
Also make sure you've made all the formulas, that you can?
I mostly used this WT:
http://www.gamesover.nl/walkthroughs/woodruff.txt
and this:
http://www.thecomputershow.com/computer ... ffwalk.htm
metzomagic also has one - looking a bit like the first one:

Are you playing it in DOSBox or ScummVM(I did)?
Ohhh, did you look at the big statue several times in the past?

Actually, I'm playing it directly through Windows. Maybe I should try the DOS version instead.
I've been using those exact walkthroughs, but I think I'll follow them step by step next time I restart.

Yeah, go for ScummVM - I copied all files to folder on harddrive, then pointed ScummVM to it.
Worked like a charm - there's a
patch though. Just unzip it and copy the files into folder where you have the files from the cd.

The patch is not needed with ScummVM. The patch is a DLL and a replacement for the original executable, neither of which is used by ScummVM, which only uses game data. If you have 64 bit Windows you will need ScummVM or an emulator/virtualizer. WOODRUFF.EXE is a 16 bit program.

Oh cool - never knew it only uses the data files!
Learned something new today, thanks Master.
