Copy failed messages

Collector, I hate to start a new topic, but I'm seeing something on some of the installers that is more than likely associated with using an AGI version of a game that is not expected by the patcher. During the install process, I see a "Copy failed" scroll by in the message window quickly, but I have no way to scroll up or to view a text log after the fact. Is there any way to diagnose what files the installers are looking for but cannot find? Or are a certain amount of those "Copy failed" messages to be expected?

Thanks!

Given the various versions of some games not all versions have exactly the same set of files. older installers/patchers solved this by trying to install all files from the various versions. This leads the "copy failed" error, depending on which version is being installed. Newer versions avoid this by doing version checks and/or installer file checks before attempting to copy a file that is not present in all versions supported.

Other reasons can be when the installers are used on nonofficial copies, i.e. abandonware copies, an archive of a previous install, etc. These are often modified, cracked, ripped or altered in someway that the installer can't anticipate. Damaged media or corrupt files may prevent a file from being copied, even when it is present. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the end user's copy is a different version of the game that is different enough from the supported versions to cause problems. This last reason is one that I appreciate when it is reported to me so I can try to add support for that version.
