So I had not been there in forever - back when I went the only game available was Space Quest I. Now... they have quite a few games - including GOLDRUSH! How interesting would that be on multiplayer?

I kinda wish they had KQ4AGI to complete the collection. Oh well. Sarien.net rocks. For some reason, though, I still prefer its predecessor Good Old Adventures.

What was on GOA?

All the same games. But it was just a more interesting interface, I guess. It was all programmed from scratch rather than utilising the original game files....at least I think it was. But you could use any number of a zillion AGI character avatars. From all Sierra games for use in any of the games available. You can only choose a couple in each game now...and even then only from each of their games. Plus GOA had some other user-created characters like Santa Clause, Neo, Morpheus, and a whole slew of others.

So if I am understanding - you could pick Santa Claus and play KQ4 as Santa?

Yeah, sort of. The only other thing with GOA is that the games weren't as "playable" as they are for Sarien.Net. You obviously couldn't save your game. I'm not even sure I remember if inventory worked or not. But you could select whichever game areas you wanted and warp right to them. It was definitely more of a chat room than the current online-game type of approach that Sarien.Net has.

I also remember it being rather buggy, too.

Wow. I typed in "look crack" hoping Larry would examine the aged paintwork in the sleazy hallway with the rose, and discovered again LSL1's a fantastic game.

Yes, there's that.
