Does anybody remember this book?

I had this when I was a kid (probably still in a box somewhere). It told a lot of the behind the scenes stories of the making of the first four games, had a crossword for each game, and even gave some SCI sample code from KQ4.
It was a very entertaining read back in the day.

I still have it - and the one that was done for Leisure Suit Larry (which was a fun read!)

I don't have the King's Quest one (yet), but I do have the Space Quest Companion and the LSL one that came with the 1997 collection (can't remember the title offhand).

I believe that it only covered 1-3. For inclusion of the later games, it was replaced by the better known
King's Quest Companion by Peter Spear.

It covers the first four. I remember the color pages in the middle were of the fisherman's house and such, and showed how Rosella moved around the environment.
If it didn't COVER KQ4, it at least went into depth about it - but 99% sure it did cover KQ4 as well. Because I recall the "square" maps after each one.

The cover linked to only has the first 3. Might have been different editions of the book like Spear's book, which had a new edition every time a new KQ game came out.

I will check when I get home. Maybe it's the first 3 and then the work they were doing on KQ4.

Or alternatively, it's the typical - I was wrong. Yet again.

I am also going by the fact that the first edition of the King's Quest Companion covered I - IV.

Yeah, I think I have this book (somewhere). My copy covered the first 4 games (I specifically remember using it with KQ4).

Yeah, I will check when I get home. I know where my copy is. (I also made a discovery when looking for my LSL7 the other day). So I will check. But I know it had the color pages in the middle that dealt with how they made KQ4.

I also remember the colour photos including 4. It shows the priority bands etc of the fisherman's hut. Either we all had a slightly later edition of the book, or KQ4 was in final production at the time of writing and so they didn't include the box art on the cover like they did with 1-3.
And yes Tawmis, it had maps because I remember the map had a big picture of a whale for the "in the whale" screen.

Yep - that brings back some memories
I will have to dig out my copy. It would have been left at my parents place when I got married. They've since moved so it'll be deep in a box somewhere.
