GK 3 Won't Run

Hi. I've been trying to find a solution for hours, but nothing is working.
First I tried using the installer. When I try to run the game, (regardless of what settings I choose in the config) it runs full screen, the screen goes black, some sound effects play, then nothing. No image ever shows on screen and the program is frozen. I also tried using that batch file, but it didn't work. I don't have any codec packs installed that I know of.
I also tried installing without the installer and copying over the .brn files myself, but I got the "not a valid win32 application" error. I even uninstalled (yet again) and reinstalled in compatibility mode, but it still didn't work.
I'm trying to run on a Vista 64 machine.
Also want to say thanks to the people who have worked so hard to make these installers. The GK1 & 2 installers worked beautifully!

The GK3 installer is more of an experimental one. It has some random, unresolved issues. The "not a valid win32 application" error is probably because of a corrupted file, as there are no 16-bit EXEs on the disc that I am aware of. Run the Diagnostic Tool and attach the results here.

Ok, this time I reinstalled with the installer in Win98 Compatibility mode, and I actually got an error message.
"Sorry, this program requires support for 16-bit color mode." and it shut down. So I changed my system settings to 16-bit, and it went black and froze again.
Attached is the diagnostic log, taken with my usual display settings. (1440x900, 32-bit)
Thanks.

I'm not seeing anything missing from the game's base directory. Look in the "Data" folder, run "ListFiles.exe" and attach the results here.
I am suspecting that it might be more of a graphics adapter issue. You can try updating the driver for it.

My device drivers are up to date (though my computer tells me that my graphics are only a 3.5). I've tried everything I can think of, I've uninstalled and reinstalled every which way, changed every setting I can think of, crashed my computer twice, and it still won't work.
Here's that file list. Thanks for the help, though I'm starting to suspect that GK3 is simply not going to run on this computer.

Nothing seems to be missing there, either. I am wondering if the game is choking on the opening logo and/or intro movie. Rename or move sierra.avi in the Data sub folder and start the game. If it still locks up, press the Escape key to end the intro.

It worked, it worked, it worked! Yay! Thanks so very much. Never in a million years would I have thought of renaming that file. I'm still getting some sort of a resource error, saying that the some resource path is invalid or files are missing or something, but it doesn't seem to be preventing the game from playing, so I'm really not worried about it.
Thanks again!

Of course.... Now I've fallen victim to the Day 2 5PM Sidney error. I don't have any of those big codec packs installed. I even tried uninstalling Miro and Windows Media Encoder 9 just in case one of those things were interfering. No luck. The game freezes and I'm lucky if I can get out of the program without the whole system crashing. I don't know what else I could possibly have installed that could be interfering.
Oddly, since I started having this problem, I keep getting error messages from Windows. "Enhanced On-Access Anit-Malware Protection stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available." I can't say for sure that it's related, but it is popping up every time the game crashes.

I don't see how, but your antimalware program may be dependent on something that got removed when you uninstalled Miro or Windows Media Encoder 9. You could ask if anyone here has a save game just past the point of the lockup.

Good plan. I hate having to do that because I feel like I'm missing something, but I guess that's Youtube videos of entire games are for. :/

Well the question should be - can you play the AVI file with a media player of some sort? Or does it crash? It could be a corrupt AVI file?

This is not the first time this has come up. Past solutions have been to replace the splash video with another, even when the splash video plays in Media Player. The game does not need it and if it is missing, the game will just skip it.
