merging email accounts through gmail

How exactly do you do this?

The only email account that my blackberry won't accept is my lycos account unless I pay for a subscription which is out of the question. But gmail, yahoo, hotmail and outlook all work fine on my blackberry (except outlook, it chooses which emails to show and not show for some reason). Is there any way I can receive my lycos emails through one of my other accounts, preferably gmail?

Ideally, yes.

If you can get the POP3/IMAP server of your lycos email, then it is entirely possible.

Log into gmail.
Go to SETTINGS in the upper right.
Go to FORWARDING AND POP/IMAP
Select if it's POP or IMAP
And follow through.

From what I discovered by searching, they allow POP3 access email.

The server SHOULD be: pop.mail.lycos.com
(And if gmail asks, the out going is smtp.mail.lycos.com - but if gmail offers to be the sending server, leave it with gmail)

Info found here on the lycos mail server: https://help.lycos.com/kb_cat.php?id=75#6459-TSKX-8016

I can think of two ways to do this:
  • Change your Lycos settings to automatically forward your Lycos email to Gmail. If you do that, and check your Gmail account on your Blackberry, you should receive your Lycos mail too.
  • Use the "mail fetcher" feature in Gmail itself. With that you can receive incoming mail from another account and send mail as that account as well.
I think the first option is the easiest, but then again, that's what I'm used to doing.

Just keep in mind that you can use your Gmail account to also send from other accounts, if this is important to you. Once you have setup both POP and SMTP for your Lycos in your Gmail account, you will have a drop down list of all your accounts to select in the "From" in the compose email page in Gmail.

You can do it all from your Gmail Settings > "Accounts and Import". You will need the POP and SMTP settings from Lycos to set it up, though.

POP (incoming) server is "pop.mail.lycos.com" (and if necessary port 110)
SMTP (outgoing) server is "smtp.mail.lycos.com" (and if necessary port 25)
