So I am off work for 3 days starting at 5pm today!!! My plans are to play Gabriel Knight (as everyone on this board insists). Along with the new BTTF game!!!!

Then Run Through LSL 1-3 (just for old times sake, and I never finished 3).

And I just acquired the following games to play also while I am off (mostly survival horror titles):

I have no mouth and I must scream
Pathologic
STALKER
Cryostasis
Shadow of the Comet
The White Chamber (heard this one is a good point and click adventure)

Of course I have to fit in some MoH 360 time but all in all I am excited for this day to end

If you like horror games, tell me you have played the first PHANTASMAGORIA by Sierra?

OF COURSE!!!! I was so excited for that to come out back when I was younger. Remember reading all about the controversy of it. Its still a classic IMHO, just very dated.

Did you just say "... but very dated."

Really?

You do remember where you are right? Where games are 16 colors and stuff?

HAHAHA What I mean is it is tough to play through an FMV game (for me at least). I love and appreciate every sierra game!!!

If you never finished Larry 3, you should try... ;) There is a story arc running through from the end of LSL2 to the end of LSL3, and it has to be seen to be believed.

Warning though - finishing LSL3 is rather tough on fast computers, as there are timer puzzles! Don't say I didn't warn you.

Well, to be honest, Phantasmagoria 1 is indeed a bit dated ;)

When compared to The Beast Within, it's pretty clear which one has passed the test of time in better shape

Says the man who constantly talks about his Xbox 360. ;)

As to the topic... in my opinion, FMV games are very dated coming from the mid 1990s. It doesn't help that the overall level of interactivity was extremely low in FMV games. I think the FMV craze started with The 7th Guest, which was remarkable back then, but today it just looks silly.

As irony would have it - if you have an XBOX 360 and have me as a friend - check the last time I was on it. I don't think I have been on my XBOX since I pretty much played Gears of War 2 survival mode and got to like the 25th level. Which is kind of a bummer, because my original XBOX360 finally red ringed (but got someone to fix it), but the wife bought me the XBOX 360 Slim, which has gotten minimal use. Don't even really use it for NetFlix like we used to, because our BluRay Player has NetFlix now.

I can't think of - other than Gears of War 3 - of any games, I am awaiting for the XBOX. (Or Dragon Age 2...)

Goven the direction BioWare chose to go with DA2 on consoles, I'll suggest buying it for the PC - unless of course they're lying and the game is identical on both systems ;)

I don't visit the Bioware forums (too many pricks for me)... How are they different?

A good place to start is this thread, which gathers every official information known so far. However, if you want to avoid any possible spoiler about the story or the companions, it can be tricky, so I'll just copy/paste the relevant info here:

- PC and Consoles both have auto-attack functionality, but pressing A/X on XBox 360/PS3, respectively, will perform a basic attack. To make a character auto-attack, you can select it from the radial menu.

- Combat on the consoles is being streamlined to better utilize the controller interface. Combat on the PC should be largely the same.
Plus, but I don't know if that's the case even before, consoles won't have a customizable quick-bar.

Meh, if that's it - then console it still is. The first Dragon Age was a nightmare to run on my system (couldn't run it full screen had to run it windowed at like 800x600)... was choppy... sound was bothersome... Just not worth it. I will adjust as needed for the console. That's much easier and much more tolerable.

The console version of Dragon Age only has 6 Quick Slots to use (3 then you had to press an alternate key to switch to the next 3), where as the PC had - like - what? - 12 or something? An entire bar at the bottom. So in that regard PC was easier, but I did just fine with the XBOX version and managed to beat the game twice, where as I could only tolerate doing it once on the PC.

That's weird. I can't imagine your system is less powerful than my six year-old PC.

I was able to run DA perfectly in full-screen mode at 1280x1024 (my monitor's native resolution) on high with full effects on. There was a little slowdown in Denerim market, but most people experienced that to some degree.

The only BioWare game I've ever had trouble with is the original Mass Effect. For some reason that just wouldn't run well on my PC. It was slow, choppy and crashed on a regular basis. Mass Effect 2, on the other hand, ran like a dream, despite having higher system requirements.

You might be surprised...

I have a Pentium D 3.00GHz CPU with 2GB Ram.
The video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 6800.
