I guess that it was to be expected with Activision now holding the IP and with the offerings on GOG and Steam.

Should have stuck with the AGI-themed chat room idea.

I don't see why he couldn't re-invent the site with just chat-room functionality & fan-made games, no?

Seems like he was leaning further and further away from the chat-room. I admit I had more fun when it was just Good Old Adventures than with what it turned into with Sarien.net. I already have the games, I don't want to just play them online. Then again, the chat room was never very popular after a while.

Sarien.net is coming back with ActiVision's authorization. Apparently they're letting him have the first games of each series online and then a link to the Steam page so people can buy the rest of the series. He was also asked not to put the games on the iPad, though, as ACtiVision may or may not choose to put them for sale there themselves.
ActiVision didn't mention LSL, however, because apparently they sold that IP to CodeMasters. Martin is double-checking to see if they or CodeMasters care whether or not the LSL games are ok on Sarien.net and the iPad.

glad this is out in the open now. I emailed Martin back and forth a tad on sarien.net after I heard about the C&D order. He told me privately to stay tuned, that he was trying to work something out with them. I was asking if the code to turn the old AGI games into a "touchable" interface was available, that I really enjoy the idea of a "touch" interface for these old AGI games without having to formally convert them to SCI or the like...
off to read that blog entry... thanks for the update!
