Can't say I'm surprised.

Facebook is going to give out your phone number and address to third party folks! (I personally don't have my number or address listed... but still...)

I've never listed my actual address or phone number on FB. The closest I've done is write down which city I live in and list my email and instant messenger names. None of those are made public, either.

Honestly, you'd have to be nuts to write down your whole physical address on FB or any online site. I only type in my full address when a billing and shipping address is required, like on Amazon.
Yahoo News Article wrote:Or as Facebook VP Elliot Schrage bluntly (if less colorfully) put things in the midst of a similar uproar last year: If you don't want Facebook to share your personal information, don't share your personal information with Facebook.
I have to agree. FB is great for finding old friends and communicating with people long distance. However, NO ONE on Facebook needs to know you physical address.

Presumably you're adding friends who you KNOW and TRUST. Those friends don't need your address because they probably have it already and if they wanted it, you'd give it to them privately.

Well someone else made another point - that anything you put on Facebook, Facebook has the authority to use. So if you posted a picture of you at a party, Facebook could technically use it as an add, "DPX Has Herpes. Be aware of Herpes. Contact Herpes Disease Control Center at 555-555-SEXY."

Or whatever. It's in the user agreement terms thing, apparently.

Granted, I don't think they could use your name or indicate YOU specifically have herpes (or whatever) - but they can use the photo.

Even if you close your account. More about it here. And here.

Great. Now someone can do a Google search of my screen name or herpes and probably find the other. :P

As for FB... well, I'm glad I removed all photos I had a while ago. Not that I had many photos of ME on there (two maybe) since most of my avatars were from games or comics and I have no "real life interaction" pics on there, either.

Those pics of me (the real me, not DPX) all look pretty stupid. In one of them I'm killing a pumpkin. I don't think FB could use that for a whole lot.

This sounds like FB is saying: "Anything you don't specifically make private can be used by us." I don't agree, but once again, I keep most info private anyway.

Dude. My wife had to come out and ask what was wrong with me because I was suddenly coughing and choking on dinner from laughing...

To advertise Hallowe'en TV, maybe? ;)

"It's the Great Pumpkin Killer, Charlie Brown!"
