What version of the game do you have? The installer was only designed for the English versions.

The installer does not support the French version. I also do not give support for abandonware. Abandonware is illegal. This game is still being sold legally through GOG.

It does not matter what an abandonware site thinks is illegal or not. Abandonware has no legal status. The IP is still owned by whoever is the current copyright holder, in this case Activision. A game cannot be legally distributed by others without license unless the game has been released to public domain or has been freewared. Either of these events rarely happen. And specifically in the case with this game, it can currently be purchased legally from GOG:

From all indications, it seems Michellefland lives in Belgium, which may or may not make her immune to US law. This depends on what sort of legal agreements there are between the two countries, if any exist at all. If Belgian law significantly differs from US law and Belgium refuses to cooperate, there is nothing Activision could do.

This is why software pirates living in countries like Russia, China and Korea (among other nations) can't be prosecuted when downloading and distributing games illegally. US law is meaningless there and anywhere outside the United States unless the other country agrees to cooperate.

That said, it's up to SHP's administrators (Collector and Tawmis) to decide what will and what won't be allowed on this site. Obviously, abandonware is not supported here.

Surprisingly, most abandonware sites I've seen don't allow users to download games if they're currently being sold. I've seen a number of them link directly to GOG.
