... condition.
How much would you sell Spider-Man's first appearance for? wrote: NEW YORK (AFP) – The inaugural 1962 comic book to feature Spider-Man netted a superhero-sized $1.1 million, the US online auctioneers said.

The copy of the Marvel comic book, in excellent condition, sold through ComicConnect.com with a cover that shows the spidery avenger -- in his other life known as the meek Peter Parker -- swinging from a high building with a man under his right arm.

Five decades ago, the comic went for just 12 cents.

The big sale has been bested only by the $1.5 million price reached for Superman's 1938 debut comic book last year. The 1930s to 1950s are seen as comics' golden age and surviving copies are keenly collected.

"The late 1950s and early 1960s are considered the Silver Age for comic books," said ComicConnect.com founder Stephen Fishler in a statement.

"People have often wondered how much this near-perfect condition book would sell for, and today we found out," Fishler said.

My dad had the first issue of the Fantastic Four when he was a kid, but according to him, my grandmother tossed out that stuff when he went to college. Apparently he also lost a large collection of baseball cards that would now be worth a lot.

That's... unfortunate.
But back then... who knew, right? Fantastic Four would probably be worth some money... Most range in 2 to 3 thousand dollars... unless you're this dude, who is a bit off his rocker, asking for 29,000 dollars!. And that's not even got the seal with like the 9.0 grade on it (which is also on ebay for about 3,000 to 4,000).

He lets you make an offer, so I'm going to log into eBay and offer him ONE DOLLAR. :D

The guy is definitely nuts. Even though it's not a reprint (like some of the others listed), that goes much higher than most on there that are not reprints. And it doesn't even have it CGC'ed, which would INSTANTLY be an alarm for me for a comic at that cost. Granted CGC'ing a comic COSTS money, but seriously - if I am about to drop $29,000 on a comic that I can't physically see or touch, I want CGC to tell me what grade that comic is in.
