Ah yes. Cracked is full of weird knowledge. I go there all the time.

BTW, was there a reason you didn't start on Page 1 of that article? :?

Hey I had a Balzac when I was a kid. And I had a lot of fun with it. That is, until I ran out of balloons, the thing only came with 5 of them.
Probably the toy had similar issues here, with the name sounding dangerously close to balzak. Maybe it's French.

It kind of reminds me how my dear ol Gran saw me sucking on a blue Push Pop and remarked "It looks just like a willy!" She had a wicked sense of humour.

Balzac is very probably named after Honoré de Balzac, the very famous French author. One of the founders of realism in European literature, he is renowned for his multi-faceted characters, which are complex, morally ambiguous and fully human. His influences stretch from Gustave Flaubert and Marcel Proust to Henry James, Edgar Allen Poe and Friedrich Engels.

However, I agree - naming a ball after him is a bit ridiculous. :P

Yeah. I grew up without a mother.

(I know. Way to ruin a joke. :P )
