And the latest reboot is...

Holy crap! BATMAN!

We have come full circle, people. They are now rebooting reboots. And before they're even finished rebooting, I might add! A year or two ago, this would driven me into a violent rampage. But ever since Rebecca Black's "Friday" burned out some of my higher brain functions, all I can do is drop to my knees, laugh at the irony, and I think to myself, what a wonderful wooorrrrrrlllllllddddd....
Christopher Nolan has publicly stated that The Dark Knight Rises will be his final Batman film, and Warner Bros. is already looking ahead to the future of the franchise. As we reported last night, the studio is currently planning a Justice League movie for 2013 and Warner Bros. president Jeff Robinov tells Hero Complex that scripts are being written for Flash and Wonder Woman (the Wonder Woman project would exist separately from the upcoming NBC show). But most intriguing is what the studio plans to do with its marquee superhero, Batman:

“We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman…” says Robinov. “Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is.”

Since Nolan said TDKR would be his last Batman film, I already assumed that Warner Bros. would reboot the franchise. However, I hope that they don’t devote yet another film to Batman’s origin story. We all know how Bruce Wayne became Batman.

I’m a little worried about keeping Nolan and Thomas on as producers. I’m hoping that they’ll be on board simply to give the reboot some cred and leave the creative decisions to a new director and his or her team. Nolan has recast the Batman world in a “realistic” setting and that’s a perfectly valid take that’s had both positive and negative repercussions. But I think a trilogy of Batman films done in that style is enough and it’s time to see what a new director can bring to the table.

Another question worth asking is if Warner Bros. plans to tie Justice League to their new Batman. Will the actor who plays Batman in JL also play Batman in the new franchise? Or will Justice League exist in its own universe?
I don't even know what the heck they plan on rebooting it into! Can Batman actually get darker and grittier, or are we long overdue for a return to Adam West as Batman? The answer to that second question is YES. Bring on the Bat-Shark Repellent!

EDIT: Fixed! Including Link To Said Awesome Bat-Shark Repellent!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry... What I don't understand is why reboot it? Why not have the same actor (Christian Bale), new producer/writer?

Hell, I think they should start working on a reboot of the Green Lantern movie, so they have it ready after the new (i.e. first one ever made) one is released.

Uhhhh.... I... rebooted it?

Thanks for posting the link, Tawmis. I just had to sit down and watch the whole thing. I love how he's also prepared for manta ray attacks.

My favorite is how Robin feels the need to do the upside down thing to hand it to him. If I was Batman, I'd be like, "Chum, this is no time to get fancy! There's a frarkin' Shark CHEWING on my leg! Just give me the damn spray!"

Hmm. How about some bat-lists? Somewhere along the lines of "Top Ten Things that Batman would never say" or "Top Ten Marvel Movies that should never be made", stuff like that. ;) I'd write some, but I don't know enough about Batman or Marvel comics to be sure. *shrugs*

Even so, I'm pretty sure that Batman would never say the following...

10. Now THAT'S a tasty burger!

9. Robin, Hand me the can of Raid! The new threat to Gotham is... *drumroll* roaches!

8. Dammit, that's the last time I have a pepperoni and jalapeno pizza before bed.

7. You've played your last card, Joker! (Hmm - actually, he just might say that)

6. I feel pretty! *prances about in a pink tutu* I feel pretty!!

5. Damn coffee stains... *scrubs the Batsuit* Where's the fabric softener?

4. How are my stock options doing?

3. Greed is unsatisfactory. (Gordon Gekko, eat your heart out)

2. I love the smell of Gotham in the morning.

And the number one thing that Batman would never say is...

1. I'm definitely getting too old for this &%@*.

Why not just recast ala the James Bond franchise. But then again who can be surprised by anything anymore when Jennifer Garner gets cast as Miss Marple

Aim will wisen up eventually and see I am not worth it and leave me! (She has to be at least THAT smart!) so Jennifer Garner is my back up plan. (Ben Afflick isn't a problem!)

 Don't get me wrong, I would totally fight you for Jennifer Garner.

Last time I checked though, Miss Marple was a gray haired old lady. Why not cast an actual lady of appropiate age?

Probably to make it more hip and such? My guess. It seems that's what they're doing with everything.
