At Almirena's invitation, I have found my way here, and I've been lurking here for a little time now and decided to register. I posted quite a few QfGlorifications on the Sierra QfG boards and participated in the discussions on the QfG and Gabriel Knight boards, until - for some boneheaded reason - my login there just refused to work. *shrug*

Anyway, nevermind about that. Hello! *waves*

Important? *puzzled* Sorry, I don't understand... I've always had this nickname. *shrug* ;)

Welcome, Rath - great to see you here. I was filled with dread when I heard that the official forums would be closing, because I knew that many people would hear it and not stick around or visit those forums anymore to hear about alternatives.

I thought those people would probably disappear from the community and not realise that we who love these great classic games are not going to vanish quite so easily. I also thought about the danger of various "splinter groups" happening, where there would be various fan sites, no sense of cohesion, and a general drifting apart.

That is why we're working on creating a Sierra Gateway to bring the forums together. Kat's forum for KQ, Rudy's forum for the newer games, Collector's forum for technical help, QfmG for QfG, GK4forum for GK, and so on. It will mean that people register ONCE, and that's it - their registration flows through to the various forums that function as offshoots of the main Gateway. There will be links to each other; mutual support; the whole sense of bringing the community together - it will be terrific.

(This won't preclude people gravitating more to one board than to another, or talking about anything they please on their favoured board, of course. What we're trying to achieve is community above all - and the ability to move with ease between these forums. It's much more cohesive than creating a webring. MUCH more.)

For those who don't know Rath, he's a stalwart of the classic Sierra games. He is an active member of the QfmG boards, one of the few good posters on the Quest for Heroes forums, and a glorification writer par excellence.

With a glowing praise like that from Alm, I already admire you. I basically worship Alm and her talent - so if she says someone else is wonderful and talented - that speaks volumes.

Welcome to the madness.

Glad to see you here!

Welcome again, Rath. I am very hopeful that the gateway can work. As is, we are getting cross traffic from the other boards. People are coming here from all over. If this were facilitated by the gateway, imagine...

Sierra languished under VU. There is a real chance of having something much better than what we had with VU.

Hi, welcome to SHP.

About the gateway thing, what if I already have accounts on two Sierra boards (this one and Sierra Planet) under two different names? I want to change to Taryn over there (I'm "Helghast Warning") but I haven't got around to asking Kat for a username change yet.

These are details that have yet to be worked out. It would be good to post such concerns in the Gateway thread so that we can keep track of potential issues that might arise.

*blush* Thank you! I do my poor best, scribbling the odd lines here and there, and over time they turn into something which, I hope, gives everyone pleasure. *smile*

Yes, it's quite easy to worship Almy and her many talents, isn't it? *grin* It's actually because I've been to see some of Almirena's concerts that I was inspired to begin singing myself, which I found to be a really rewarding hobby. *blush* I've been singing with a choir and with a light opera company (mostly as part of the chorus) for about three years now. I've learned a lot that I didn't know, and it's great fun! *smile*

*L* Well, living as I do in the same town as Almirena does, I don't have to jump on a plane or a ship or anything... ;)

I remember watching Almirena perform a baroque piece by Bach, or a Mozart composition... it felt truly... well, magical, as if I was transported into the music; it's not something I can explain in a logical way. *blush* The one piece I remember best is the famous Rossini Cat duet - very funny, and obviously lots of fun! *smile*
