"That's the worse thing that could happen to me!"

The sad part is - I know this person - and she's not kidding. She's truly this vain. I removed her image and her name (since there's folks on my FB who know her that are friends here - and not that I think anyone would - but just for her own sake...)

English must not be her first language.

I had the exact same thought.

What's funny is that it's not. And yet, where I met her was a previous job, where she was an admin.
Pretty sure she got the job based on looks more than skill.

Scars are the worst thing that could happen to her?
In the 30-plus years I've been on this planet, I've cut myself badly, burned myself badly, been run off the road by a drunk driver, had my car smashed several times, and (while playing soccer) knocked myself out, got smashed in the face and elbowed in the ribs repeatedly, been trodden on and kicked in various delicate places, and generally been treated like a welcome mat. I'm surprised I'm still alive after all that.
She should try having boiling tea being poured on her sometimes. Or at the age of six, nearly cutting off her own finger. Or, at the age of two, slipping on a recently washed floor and sliding into a wall (head first) and nearly losing an ear. Or being run off the road by a drunk driver, smashing her own face into the steering wheel and thus breaking her own nose (and nearly losing an eye too). Like I did.
Scars? Puh-lease.

But now I want to know... how did she manage to get scars all over her?

@Andrea - they're not scars yet. That's what she's
terrified is going to happen.

Speaking as someone who does have real and significant scars, women like this offend me greatly. Still, look, this woman sounds like a grade a airhead and twit but talking about her like this isn't cool. It isn't funny.
If she depended on her looks all her life, I can understand being scared to lose them.

OK. Then what the heck are these marks she found on herself?

Well Andrea, in my newspaper route days I used to sleepwalk, and back then I did far worse stuff than just scratching myself. I wrote something on my leg once, I've opened windows, got dressed, walked downstairs and even got started on my route once.
Maybe there's something with a sharp edge near her bed. Maybe her cat was playing with a mosquito. Maybe she has a feather pillow (feathers can peep through the tiny fabric openings and scratch your face, happened to me once). Maybe her hair got in her face causing her to itch and scratch it out while sleeping.

All reasonable explanations, BBP, but the way she puts it it seems like she's covered with these scratches.

So, she is an attention whore. Seriously though, wouldn't most think that, say, getting maimed far worse?

There's MANY things that could be far worse. That's what struck me. And I was stabbing at her vanity view and she's oblivious.
Granted I knew her from work - where she was, over all a nice person. She rarely showed off such vanity. I do believe, it's because her and her long time boyfriend broke up for a good amount of time; that now, it stabbed her insecurity and now she's overly concerned about her appearance. Because it all began around that time.
EDIT: I can't say much. Look at the attention whore I am. I am just not
vain about it! Mostly because I am a different kind of attention whore!
