I need help with the old DOS game Transport Tycoon Deluxe (TTD)
. I want to play the DOS Version of the game with DOSBox. When I tested it with this trick:
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=34542
than there is the problem: Can't adjust svga. When I want to play it with vdm sound there is this problem: The system can not open the COM2 port
And when I want to play the game without any help of a pogramm there is the problem: Error reading registory!
I hope somebody can help me!

Chances are that Collector or Qbix can help you in detail, but in the meantime I found this trick that's supposed to work
on the DOSBox official site:
Could not install, locked the whole system. Installed using VDMS. Could not run it with VDMS so after installation I used DOSBox to run the game. It only worked fine after I set the CORE to DYNAMIC and the amount of cycles to 50000.

Anything trying to refer to the registry is a Windows Program. The instructions on that page were made by someone who has no idea about how to properly mount drives in DOSBox. I do not have the game to experiment with, but start over. Mount a folder (not DOSBox's folder) as a "C:" drive. Mount your CD with the "-t cdrom -ioctl" options. If you have a folder on your C: drive called "Oldgames" and your CD drive is "D:" you would use the following mount commands:
Code: Select all
mount c C:\Oldgames
mount d D:\ -t cdrom -ioctl
Once mounted, change to your CD drive (cd d:) and type the name of the installer, i.e. install or setup. This will install the game into a subfolder in the Oldgames folder. It should also run the setup program to select your audio and, in some cases, graphics options.
Be sure to use the same mountings to play the game.

@Collector:
I'll test it...
Download the game (legal) there:
link removed
Click there on the last download link of Transport Tycoon Deluxe (DOS)

A quick check shows that it looks like the game has not been freewared, but is so called "abandonware". I did come across an open source clone of it,
OpenTTD. Give that one a try.

Chris Sawyer's (designer and developer behind Transport Tycoon) FAQ wrote:I can't find Transport Tycoon available to buy - Can I just download it?
No! All versions of Transport Tycoon are protected by copyright, and are the subject of a publication agreement with Microprose, which means the only legal way to obtain the game (and support the developer) is to purchase the full boxed product. If you can't find it in your country, you can usually purchase by mail order from another country - See Games/Purchasing for more details.
Just because old games can readily be found for download does not mean that they are legal downloads. Very few of the Sierra games have been freewared, but almost all Sierra games can be readily found on "abandonware" sites. Even copyrights originally held by companies that no longer exist are usually held by some other entity that acquired the assets of said company. In Sierra's case, Activision.
There are a few other threads here where the subject of abandonware has come up. You can search for them if you wish to see more info about it. In principal I am sympathetic with the concept of abandonware, but that does not change the legal status. I do not want this site to become associated with abandonware. The policy here is that discussion of abandonware is not prohibited, but please, do not post links to abandonware or abandonware sites. If we are ever wrong and a game can be shown to have been freewared, the links can be restored.

I'm sorry. I don't now much about downloading because I didn't do it often and I didn't knew that the downloadlinks were illegal!! Now, I really bought the game by ebay now! Ok...but the problem is with this version and with these tricks the same! Does it exist an Installer for TTD Deluxe or more tricks???
Thanks for help!
PS:One can also argue about the legality of OpenTTD!
(...but I don't want to argue now)

As I said before, I don't have the game, so I can't experiment. All I can do is give generic DOSBox help. Try the steps I listed above for mounting to install the game. If that does not work, you can try a DOSBox frontend.

If you haven't already, you could try getting help at
VOGONS. Someone there probably has the same game and may have come across a similar problem.

It's working now! I copied the files of the cd to the installed folder and I mounted the folder and file: tycoon.bat .Than it worked!
PS: I used DOSBox 0.73 because it didn't work wit version 0.74 on my computer!
