P2 interlacing

Post by Rudy »

Starting on recording Puzzle of Flesh. Is there by any chance a no-interlacing patch? I know the STC installer has it included, but I would prefer no interlacing in DOS mode.

I would, too, but the StC installer does it differently than the Endroz patch for GK2. Jafa uses DirectX to deinterlace and the GK2 does it on a script level. In other words, GK2 has the full videos, but interlacing is introduced at the script level to lower system requirements at the time. Endroz's patch turns this off. Phantasmagoria allows you to select either in its control panel. I suspect that P2's videos are not interlaced, but has the interlacing added in game. Unlike Phantasmagoria and RAMA, there is nothing in the controls to turn it off. If it is possible, someone would need to look through the scripts to find where it is added to turn it off.

Guess I'll stick to the StC installer then. It's a great installer to play the game, but has its drawbacks on recording them unfortunately: fat black borders on the sides due to aspect ratio, finetuning of recording settings to minimize desynchronizing of the videos' sound and image, and no mouse pointer in the recordings.
Still better than having interlaced videos though.
