My first time playing this game (although the further I go, the more I think less so - my memory is horrible). So I just got to day 9, an was faced with the air elemental. I was able to get the clues from Keapon Laffen, so I'm on the right track I'm however extremely pissed about the parser. I attempt to use the command 'use dirt' while in the Palace Plaza with the air elemental, and am given the boilerplate 'I don't understand what you are asking' - sorry, can't recall the exact text right now. Totally stumped I had to look on-line for a hint.
Sure enough, what I typed was completely valid, just not when I attempted to do it. Hence the complaint. I find the generic response misleading, and thinking that I could never do what I was asking, I gave up with that command.
I guess I would have preferred a hint perhaps, or just a 'You can't do that right now' response. Anyone else relate to this?

Yes, and ironically for the VERY SAME SPOT you mentioned.
One of the biggest things I hated about QFG2. I could NOT figure it out and assumed, I was doing something wrong.
I believe I even went so far as to call the hint line, only to be told I was doing it right. (Then I figured it out, just not at the right time). Pretty awesome to pay for that $ per minute hint line to be told I was doing it right...

Hmm. That's funny, I never had problems figuring out what the game wanted. IIRC, you need to type in Throw dirt at air elemental (or similar). It should be easy going after that.
Good luck!

Thank the maker, I'm glad I'm not alone.Tawmis wrote:Yes, and ironically for the VERY SAME SPOT you mentioned.

Sure, I had no problem finding the answer, but I really didn't want to 'cheat'.Rath Darkblade wrote:Hmm. That's funny, I never had problems figuring out what the game wanted. IIRC, you need to type in Throw dirt at air elemental (or similar). It should be easy going after that.

There was also something in the back of my mind regarding a similar situation with Keapon Laffin, so I apparently have played this game before (probably with a friend). However, I don't recall the details except that I was not pleased in a very similar manner - perhaps it was a timing issue with the game. Or Keapon was supposed to give me a hint and never did.
