[Masquerade Locked] 3rd Annual Masquerade Ball.

So, this year, I was thinking we could create a forum section called "3rd Annual Masquerade Ball" and basically mimic the BEHIND CLOSED DOORS forum.

And ALL posts for must take place out of there. I know last year, I'd forget to switch out, and post in a regular thread, and be like, "Oh crap!" So maybe if we lock the entire masquerade into its own forum section, it might help control it from spilling out? With like stickies to say ALL Masquerade posts are to take place HERE only! All posts from the Masquerade that happen outside of this, will be deleted.

This way when the Masquerade is all done, we can lock the threads and move them into the BEHIND CLOSED DOORS section, and let them sink to the bottom.

Thoughts?

Collector, this is mostly for you, since this is your forum.

Are you thinking of a subforum under the Miscellaneous Chatter forum?

Where ever you'd like to put it. I just thought it'd be easier to manage (and easier to remember all posts stay there, not out of that forum). So folks who take part, log in as their character, go straight to that forum specifically, and then can log out and log in normal. Because sometimes, when it's in a normal forum, it was too easy to post a reply (either as myself), and forget - or as the character, then post as the character in the other non Masquerade threads.

Maybe not everyone is as dumb as I am though, which is why I figured I'd bring it up for discussion.

I went ahead and created it as a subforum under the Miscellaneous Chatter forum. For now, only the three of us can see it. We can set the permissions for it so the regular members can access it when it is time. The official announcement can be made in the new forum at that time.

We could even set it so (I think last time we had an * in front of the character names) and make it so the character have JUST access to that forum and no other forums.

This stuff is too technical for me. Basically, I'm on board with everything you'll decide :D

I have started a few threads in the Ballroom so when Oct 1st comes, there's threads there to get the game started.

We have our first masked account, so I created a "Ball Guest" user group for the masked accounts. As the masked accounts are created, remove them from the newly registered group and add them to the "Ball Guest" group. This has to be done from the ACM.

Okay I did that for *Rakeesh - but when I test permissions as them, I don't see the ball room.

Okay I tested Cookie Monster's access, and they don't see the Ball Room either?

Fixed the permissions. Ball Room was still set to have NO ACCESS.

Also - I set it up so BALL ROOM has only access to Misc Chatter, and BALL ROOM. (Have to have access to Misc. Chatter, because BALLROOM is a sub section of the forum - if we set BALL ROOM to be its own section, it can be set so BALL ROOM _ONLY_ has access to BALL ROOM). So when you modify their settings, remove "Registered User" as well, so they only have BALL ROOM in their groups permissions.

 I was going crazy ... I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, till I looked at the permissions. I jumped the gun slightly early... but uh, in my defense,... it was Oct 1st... somewhere in Europe or Australia!

It is set, now. Masked accounts can only post in the Ballroom.
